Chapter 9.8
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Hernfelk's horse collapsed around a forest not too far away from where Hernfelk buried the last of his soldiers. Hernfelk drew his sword and ended the life of his dying horse to relieve him of his pain. While he watched the light fading from his horse's eyes, the moon rose to light the dark sky. Hernfelk moved deeper into the forest despite knowing the danger of travelling at night. He occasionally heard howls of wolves and hoots of owls echoing around him. Every time he heard those sounds, he tighten his grip on his sword. After hours of walking, he saw a small building built by a small lake. He could not have found the building if it was not for the full moon. He quietly approached the building to check out the building. When he got near enough, he carefully examined the building. To his surprise, a black dog was guarding the building. As Hernfelk unsheathed his sword, the dog jumped on him. Hernfelk pushed the sword into the dog's mouth as the dog tried to bite him. The tip of the sword stuck out of the dog's head and killed the dog a couple inches away from Hernfelk's face. Hernfelk pulled his sword from the dog and swung it hard to clean the blood on the sword. As Hernfelk sheathed his sword, the door of the building opened and a man wearing a black suit of armour came out through the door. Hernfelk put his right hand on top of the hilt and moved three steps away from the dead dog. The Man-"You are gripping your sword too tightly. You will rip your hand like that. Grip the hilt firmly but loosen your wrist slightly or else you will either sprain or break your wrist." Hernfelk-"Who are you and what is this building?" The Man-"This building is a small shrine dedicated to Kokini, god of stealth and mischief. It is one of the few surviving temples of the Church of Ibladesh." Hernfelk-"Are you a follower of the church?" The Man-"No. I don't trust anyone who doesn't follow their own words." Hernfelk-"Tell me who you are." The Man-"I have answered one of your questions. Why don't you introduce yourself like a civil man?" Hernfelk stared at the man for a few minutes, observing him. Hernfelk was around 190 centimetres but the man was at least a foot taller than him. Also, the man just gave Hernfelk an advice on how he gripped his sword. Facing a bigger and better swordsman at night made Hernfelk hesitate to act hostile towards the man. Hernfelk-"I am Hernfelk of Ar Mosul. A knight of Marquis Ercc." The Man-"Ar Mosul... You are from Perdan then? So that is why you wanted to know who I am. I am Guntar Ivorand. I haven't found a liege worthy of my service. My goal is to find a perfect liege and serve him til I draw my last breathe." Hernfelk-"(Quietly)Did you hit your head?" Guntar-"What did you say?" Hernfelk-"Nothing. so why are you here?" Guntar-"I was going to stay here for the night with my dog." Hernfelk-"Your dog? You mean this thing?" Guntar-"I am surprised you managed to kill my dog with your pathetic skill. Do not worry about the dog. I do not mourn over the dead. The strong survives and the weak perishes. That is what I have learned during my travel." 'Eric and my men were weak? That is why they died?', Hernfelk thought. It was not true. They died because Hernfelk ordered them to make an escape route. If they were weak, they would have disobeyed and ran for their lives. Guntar-"He. You don't look like you want to agree with my words." Hernfelk-"No. I do not agree with you. My men died because I ordered them to die for me. If they were weak, they would have ran not throw themselves at the enemies trying to make a way for me to escape." Guntar nodded slowly. Guntar-"Your men were loyal and brave but they still died. They were weaker than their foes. If your men were truly strong, they would have survived. You are talking about the strength of their will and determination. But those who are truly strong can overcome whatever the world throws at them. People who can't withstand it will break and die, like your men. If you think I am wrong, you can test your will against mine. Of course, we both know the answer." Hernfelk suddenly felt the atmosphere around him got heavier. Guntar-"Yes. Lift your hand from your sword. You are still young. When you feel you are ready to test yourself against me, come find me. Until then, abandon your idea of the strong. The will alone does not make a man truly strong." Guntar turned away from Hernfelk and walked into the woods behind the temple of Kokini. Hernfelk watched Guntar disappear from his sight quietly. |
Chapter 9.9
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) As soon as he returned to the capital, Hernfelk met a priest to arrange a funeral for his men, especially Eric. The priest told Hernfelk to return after two days and Hernfelk spent the past two days drinking in Old Knight Lodge, an inn near the red district of Partora. When Hernfelk woke up, it was raining heavily. After washing his face, he grabbed all his belongings and left the inn to attend the funeral the priest prepared. The funeral began by the priest reading his book. He read names of the dead one by one and prayed for their souls. Once the priest stepped aside, Hernfelk buried a paper with the names of the dead in their graves. It was a tradition of his family when they did not have any body to bury. Hernfelk-“Animals leave their hides behind. As humans, we leave our names instead of our hides. May you all sleep silently.” Hernfelk donated his last gold coin to the priest and left the graveyard. |
Chapter 10.0
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) After the funeral, Hernfelk stopped drinking. He drank to forget his men before but they constantly reappeared whenever he idled. Drinking didn't fix the problem, only delayed it. When he realized this, he felt it was pointless to continue drinking. Also, he ran out coins to pay for more alcohol. He barely had enough to pay for his room. He sent a letter to his family asking for coins, but his aunt denied his request and called him worthless. It was a mystery how his aunt sent back the reply so quickly when Sirion and Perdan was seven hundred miles apart. Hernfelk-"Damn it. Now my own aunt is calling me worthless. Great." Mary-"You are lucky your aunt did not see you like this. You look nothing like a knight, Sir." Hernfelk was surprised to hear a familiar voice. He turned his head to see the person and saw Mary standing beside him. Hernfelk-"Mary! Why are you here?" Mary-"I was here to buy your horse. Then I saw you enter this inn and followed you. I heard what happened to Eric." Hernfelk-"I couldn't even retrieve his body... too bad." Mary-"Well at least he got you out, Sir." Hernfelk-"He was a good soldier... Ahem. So did you find a good horse?" Mary-"Aixian horses are better than most Partoran and Perdanese horses. They can't run too long though. Eastern Caligusian horses can run longer than any horse in Perdan but they are too small for a fully armoured knight." Hernfelk-"So get an Aixian horse." Mary-"Well, Sir. You will need at least 45 gold." Hernfelk-"What? My last horse costed 4 gold! I don't have that much money to spend on a horse!" Mary-"An average peasant family of five spends 1 silver a day, 7 silver a week, and 30 gold 4 silver a year." Hernfelk-"They make that much?" Mary-"Sir. A knight with income of 50 gold earns 2600 gold a year." Hernfelk-"That is a lot of gold." Mary-"Well you don't have any income Sir." |
Chapter 10.1
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Hernfelk and Mary entered the recruitment office to recruit new soldiers. The same person who helped Hernfelk the last time around gave him papers to fill out. This time, however, he did not ignore Hernfelk like the last time. Hernfelk-"You are not going to ignore me?" Recruitment Office Worker-"Not anymore, Sir." Hernfelk-"Why? Because I shook your table and spilled your ink last time around?" ROW-"Yes. You waste my valuable time. I have too much work and I don't need you to add more on it." Hernfelk-"What? Do you think only your time is valuable?" ROW-"No, I didn't mean it that-" Before the man could react, Hernfelk grabbed his table and shook it hard a couple times. As the man tried to catch falling papers, Hernfelk pushed an ink bottle off the table and walked away. He smiled when he heard the bottle hitting the ground. Mary-"You are an a-. Never mind, Sir." Hernfelk-"What did you just-" Mary-"I will fill out the form, Sir. Write your name here and sign it here." Once Hernfelk wrote his name and signed the form, Mary sat down on a nearby table to fill out the rest of the form. Hernfelk-"Don't fill out the name of my unit. I want to name them myself." Mary-"What? But Sir, you can barely write your own name!" Hernfelk-"How the hell did you fig- I mean what are you talking about? Of course I can write more than my name. I will show you! Just fill out the damn form first!." Mary shook his head sideways and finished writing on the form. After getting the form from Mary, Hernfelk told Mary to wait outside. As soon as Mary left the building, Hernfelk walked toward the Recruitment Office Work, who was busy cleaning spilled ink on the floor. ROW-"(Grinds teeth) What now..." Hernfelk-"Write the name of my unit here." ROW-"Can't you even do that on your own?" Hernfelk-"Do I have to spill more ink?" ROW-"Alright! What name do you want, SIR?" Hernfelk-"Ahem. Lion Guards." ROW-"Are you serious? Lion Guards? Can't you come up with a better name?" Hernfelk-"Just shut up and write! I am going to look for some recruits now. It's Lion Guards. Don't forget that." The recruitment office worker watched Hernfelk leave the building. When the sound of his footsteps disappeared completely, the worker filled out the unit name section of the form. 'Infantry center' |
Chapter 10.2
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Hernfelk and Mary met soldiers after filling out the paper work required. Mary, who went ahead, was already talking to young soldiers by the time Hernfelk arrived in the recruitment center district. Mary-"Did you actually write down the name yourself, Sir?" Hernfelk-"Of course, Mary. I am not illiterate you know." Mary-"But Sir, you made me read all the reports and letters..." Hernfelk-"Eh. Th-that was because I was too busy!...Enough! Did you find some men?" Hernfelk tried to divert from the topic by asking about recruits. Mary's mouth widened slightly for a brief moment. Mary-“Indeed, Sir. I found someone as capable as Erik. This is Ewald. Ewald, this is Sir Hernfelk.” Ewald-“It is an honour to meet you, Sir.” Hernfelk-“There is nothing honourable about meeting someone like me, Ewald. But I appreciate it. So, where are you from, Ewald?” Ewald-“I am from a small town in Bescanon, Sir. In fact most of the men in the building behind me are.” Hernfelk-“How many people are in the building?” Ewald-“About twenty five, Sir.” Hernfelk-“Mary. I am recruiting them all. Ewald. You will be the captain.” Mary-“Like that? Really, Sir?” Hernfelk-“Yes. Ewald, get the men and meet me by the southern gate” |
Chapter 10.3
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) After days of marching, Hernfelk and his men arrived in Ar Mosul. Peasants took off their hat and bowed as Hernfelk rode by them. Captain Ewald-"Sir. Ar Mosul seems quite peaceful. This place is a lot different from what I heard." Hernfelk-"I am surprised myself. When I left the region to fight dead peasants in Al Aquabah, peasants weren't this docile. They even revolted and chased Marquis Ercc out. I had to execute twenty two peasants to put these fools back into their place." Mary-"Peasants would have settled down if you had given them enough time, Sir." Hernfelk-"If I had given them enough time, they would have revolted again! Words do not go through their ears. Only spears and swords will. Look at them. They are finally doing what they are born to do. Besides, why do you think our king and duke brought heavily armed men? Peasants would never dare to revolt against heavily armed men. They are not as dumb as mules but not as smart as a bastard child of a noble." Captain Ewald-"How smart is a bastard then, Sir?" Hernfelk-"Half of their blood is from their noble parents. They must be smarter than peasants. Though you will occasionally encounter failures even among nobles. Like dwarfs or club footed ones. They are abominations." While they were talking, they arrived at the manor. Tom came out from with five servants to greet Hernfelk and his men. Tom-"Welcome home, Sir. I heard what happened to Eric. He was a good man." Hernfelk-"Indeed he was. He was brave to the end. Hopefully, Captain Ewald can fill his shoes. Captain, you and your men can use the local inns until we build more houses to accommodate everyone." |
Chapter 10.4
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) It was raining outside. Hernfelk, Tom, Mary and Captain Ewald all sat around a table to read piles of letters and reports. Hernfelk grabbed a letter and looked for an emblem but there was nothing on the letter. He immediately passed the letter to Mary, who took the letter with a delightful smile. Hernfelk-“I don’t know why you are so fascinated by complaint letters from merchants and peasants.” Mary-“Sir, You can learn many things from these letters. You can see what kind of trouble these people run into everyday. If you understand their hardships, you will become a fine lord one day.” Hernfelk-“Squeezing as much gold out of peasants while preventing them from revolting is what being a fine lord is, Mary. More knights you have under your command, more gold you can squeeze out. Enough of this, Mary. There is no lord willing to act like your dream lord. Just read those damn letters and deal with complaints.” Mary-“Yes… Sir.” Hernfelk-“Have you found anything worth my time, Tom?” Tom-“I found my letter, Sir. My family sent me a letter. Apparently my father got a wife for me and wants me to return home.” Hernfelk-“What? Who is going to take care of things around my manor?” Mary-“I can take care of things until Tom returns, Sir.” Hernfelk-“Well… If Mary can take your position, Tom, we can go to the capital for your marriage as soon as you finish teaching Mary what to do.” Tom-“Thank you, Sir. I will train Mary right away.” Tom left the room with Mary, leaving Hernfelk and Captain Ewald with a pile of letters. Hernfelk-“Captain, I will leave you in charge of these letters. If there is anything important among the letters, just bring them to my room. Hmm… Maybe I should ask my aunt to find me a wife.” As Captain Ewald nodded, Hernfelk left the room. |
Chapter 10.5
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Tom-"Mary, start building the training ground for soldiers tomorrow but make sure to oversee the construction yourself. You need to run the workers tight or they won't finish the job in time." Mary-"Do not worry about Ar Qudal. I will do fine, Tom. Enjoy your wedding in Partora. You will be busy once you return." As Tom got on his horse, Hernfelk and Captain Ewald approached him. Hernfelk-"Are you ready, Tom?" Tom-"Yes, Sir." Hernfelk-"Captain, we are leaving now. Go gather the men." Captain Ewald-"They are already waiting us at the gate, Sir." Hernfelk-"Mary. You are in charge. If peasants revolt or abominations appear, ask help from Duke Hostamir and Margrave Ercc. Both of them should be in Ar Mosul." Mary-"I will do that, Sir." After seeing Mary nod, Hernfelk, Tom and Ewald left the manor and marched toward Partora. |
Chapter 10.6
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Tom led Hernfelk and Ewald to a smithy west of the recruitment office. As Hernfelk dismounted from his horse, a group of muscular men approached him. Before Hernfelk could react, Tom opened his arms and hugged the oldest of the group. Tom-"Father, this is Sir Hernfelk of Ar Mosul. Sir, this is my father Rogon Smith." Hernfelk-"You are lucky to have a son like him, Rogon. I am glad to call him one of my finest soldiers." Rogon-"Sir Hernfelk, thank you for bringing him here from Ar Mosul. If you would let me, I would like to sharpen your sword for letting him come back." Hernfelk handed over his sword to Rogon. Rogon took the sword with both hands and unsheathed the sword. The blades of the sword was chipped and cracked from being used continuously without any repair. More Rogon unsheathed the sword, more cracks he found. As the number of cracks increased, Rogon's two eyebrows got closer to each other. After completely taking the sword out from its sheath, Rogon turned his gaze away from the sword and looked Tom. Rogon-"Why didn't you take care of this sword for Sir Hernfelk, Tom?" Tom-"I was busy with other things, father. I was too busy hammering nails and signing papers." Hernfelk-"He is right, Rogon. He was busy building my manor." Rogon-"Sir, please take better care of your sword. I am surprised this sword is still intact. Whoever made this sword really did a fantastic job." When Hernfelk heard the word 'fantastic', he frowned his face. The sword was a parting gift from my stingy aunt. Rogon-"Luckily I think I can fix this before the wedding. Tom, come with me and learn how to fix this sword so you can fix it later." Tom-"Umm father, can you tell me about my wife first? I am here to marry not to fix something." Hernfelk-"Yes. Who is he marrying anyway?" Rogon-"I forgot you are marrying tomorrow. Tom will be marrying the second daughter of Ben the merchant, Sir." Tom-"What? Are you serious father? The second one? You mean Rose? Why her father? Why not Bella?" Tom's face suddenly became pale when he heard about his bride. Ewald-"I am guessing this Rose isn't your dream wife, Tom?" Tom-"No! She... She is..." Rogon-"Listen son. A woman like Bella is too skinny to bear more than two children. Rose is much healthier and she can-" Tom-"Father! She is even taller and bigger than me! I can't handle her! She broke my arm the last time I met her! Do you even remember this?" Hernfelk & Ewald-"What?" Tom was only slightly shorter than Hernfelk, who was tall even for nobles. Rogon-"Stop whining! You are marrying her no matter what! It has been decided. The wedding is tomorrow and we have this sword to fix. We don't have time to waste!" Rogon grabbed Tom's arm and dragged him into the building. When Tom disappeared into the building, the muscular men who came out with Rogon showed Hernfelk and Ewald a place to stay. |
Chapter 10.7
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Peasants busily moved wooden tables and benches as the wedding was about to begin. The wedding was taking place in the small garden of the bride. Hernfelk and Ewald were sitting beside Tom's father, Rogon. Hernfelk got his sword back from Rogon before coming to the wedding and his repaired sword looked as good as new. When the peasants finished placing things around, Tom joined Hernfelk and Ewald. Tom was wearing clean green clothes his mother prepared for him. Hernfelk-"How do you feel, Tom? Did you see your soon to be wife?" Tom-"Not yet Sir. To be honest I don't want to see her." Rogon-"What do you mean you don't want to see her Tom!" Tom-"I don't know why I came all the way from Ar Mosul to here, father. It was a mistake. (Sigh)... It is too late to stop it now." Rogon-"There you go, son." Hernfelk-"Your wife can't be that bad, Tom. She is just a bit taller than you right?" Tom-"You will soon understand why I was so devastated, Sir." Hernfelk-"Tom, smile. Today is suppose to be your one and only-" Ewald-"Oh dear gods! Sir, look!" As Hernfelk tried to cheer Tom up, Ewald hit Hernfelk with his elbow and pointed something behind Tom. When Hernfelk looked where Ewald pointed, he saw the biggest bride in his life. A muscular woman almost two meters in height was walking toward Tom with a smile. Rose-"TOM!" Tom-"Ha...haha. Hello, Rose. You uh-look beautiful to-day." Rose-"Ho-ho-ho! You look handsome as well, Tom" Tom grew pale the longer they talked. Rogon watched them with a smile while Hernfelk and Ewald stared at Rose's face with horror. Rose-"Who are your guests here?" Tom-"Eh this is Sir Hernfelk of Ar-" Hernfelk-"No! no, no, no. We are just here to deliver gifts. We were just about to leave, right Ewald?" Ewald-"Yes, Sir- I mean Yes, we were." Tom-"Sir, what are you-" Hernfelk-"We will be going now, thank you for the drink, Tom." Before Tom could grab them, Hernfelk and Ewald quickly left the garden. Tom tried to call them but the wedding started and Rose dragged him with her to see her father. Hernfelk-"Whew. We managed to escape. Dear gods! Now I understand why Tom was so desperate. I almost asked Rose to become my soldier." Ewald-"Indeed, Sir. She looked like she could handle two giant axes without any problem." Hernfelk-"Well at least I know where to get my future squire from." |
Chapter 10.8
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Captain Ewald ordered Hernfelk's men, now called the '1st Platoon', to prepare to leave the capital after sunrise. Hernfelk himself was staying near a bank, waiting for his tax to arrive. When he looked around, he realized there were hardly any poor peasant in the banking district of the city. Only wealthy peasants, rich merchants or nobles were walking around the streets. His liege, Margrave Ercc, has recently raised his income for helping him rebuild Ar Mosul. Whenever he thought about his income, he smiled with joy until he remembered Tom's wife, Rose. Oh that giant woman... muscular and taller than any man Hernfelk has encountered so far. He was sure Tom and Rose's son will make a fine squire of his one day. While he was thinking about his future squire, he saw a messenger approaching him. Messenger-"Sir Hernfelk?" Hernfelk-"What is it?" Messenger-"A new knight has arrived in the duchy of Castle Ubent." Hernfelk-"Oh? A new knight? Who is this person?" Messenger-"Lady Cherry of Zurn, Sir. Would you like to write a welcome letter?" Hernfelk-"Uh... sure. Go get Captain Ewald for me. Tell him to bring a quill pen and an ink bottle." Messenger-"No need to ask him those, Sir. I always carry them arou-" Hernfelk-"I said go get Captain Ewald!" Messenger-"Uh... I will do that right away." |
Chapter 10.9
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) As Hernfelk was passing by a graveyard, he saw a group of soldiers mourning. Intrigued by this rare sight during such a peaceful time, Hernfelk approached the group and asked the nearest man to him. Hernfelk-"Who are you mourning for?" Sad Soldier-"For Sir Saose, Sir." Hernfelk-"Sir Saose? Didn't he just arrive?" Sad Soldier-"Yes. But he fell from a cliff." Hernfelk-"Uh... which cliff? There is no cliff until you reach Eldoret." Sad Soldier-"I am not sure." Hernfelk-"Well someone must have found his body to bury here." Sad Soldier-"This grave is empty." Hernfelk-"Uh... So why are you people mourning then?" Sad Soldier-"We don't know. We just felt like mourning." Hernfelk-"Okay then. I will just slowly walk away from here. Slowly... Walk away." |
Chapter 11.0
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) After receiving his order, Hernfelk ordered Captain Ewald to ready the men to march toward the city of Perdan. Gather in Perdan instead of Partora... Why? Hernfelk felt something he did not know was going on. Maybe there will be a war? Just thinking about the word made his blood boil. He was sick of losing his men to peasants and walking corpses. He wanted something worthy of losing lives of his men. When the men gathered, Captain Ewald returned to report. Tom was there as well. Hernfelk welcomed Tom with a smile. Hernfelk-"Tom! You are still alive!" Tom-"I am surprised by the durability of my body, Sir. I have endured for two days and I want to leave the city as soon as possible." Hernfelk-"What happened to your wife?" Tom-"I told her to wait for me in your manor, Sir. She will travel there with a group of merchants though I doubt she will be in any danger by herself." Hernfelk-"Sounds good. Captain, we are leaving the city now." Captain Ewald-"Yes, Sir. Men! March toward Perdan!" |
Chapter 11.1
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) It was late afternoon when Hernfelk and his 1st Platoon arrived in the capital. He returned to the city hoping to recruit more men to command. He felt confident enough to command at least fifty men with Captain Ewald's help. They entered the inn they usually used to stay, the one located near the red district of Partora. Hernfelk gave his men a few coins so they can enjoy themselves while they are in the city waiting for General Atanamir to send some gold. Most of his men left the inn right away to find themselves some women to spend a night with. Tom watched them with envy as they entered the red district. Hernfelk-“Tom. You just married!” Tom-“Sir. I did not marry a woman. I married an ogre! I want a really woman to comfort me!” Ewald-“Sir. I think you should just let Tom do what he wants to do for tonight. I mean just think about what he went through… His first night with Rose must have been tough for him both physically and mentally.” Hernfelk saw Tom’s eyes losing focus as he remembered his first night with Rose. Hernfelk-“Alright. I will give you two gold. Find yourself a real woman for tonight. Just don’t tell others I gave you two gold, Tom.” Tom-“Thank you, Sir. I… I will remember you while I-“ Hernfelk-“Just go. Dear gods…” |
Chapter 11.2
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) Ewarld woke up early in the morning. As the captain of Hernfelk's 1st Platoon, it is was job to wake everyone up. He first went to Hernfelk's room to wake the knight he was serving faithfully. When he knocked the door of Hernfelk's room twice. There was no response as usual. Instead of knocking the door again, he took out a key from his left pocket. He got the key of the room from the inn keeper last night before going to bed. With a click, the door opened and the first thing he saw was Hernfelk on the floor. After taking a deep breath, he opened the only window of the room across the door. Through the opened window, the cold morning air entered the room and fell on Hernfelk which made him shiver. After a few minutes, Hernfelk's eyes slowly opened. He frowned his face as the sun shined on his face. Hernfelk-"Wa... wat..er." Ewald grabbed a nearby cup and poured water into it then handed it over to Hernfelk. Hernfelk quickly emptied the cup and got up from the ground. Ewald-"Are you feeling better, Sir? You drank quite a lot with Tom." Hernfelk-"Drinking a couple cups of beer is nothing. Go check on Tom. I bet he is half dead at the moment. I am going to drink more water in my room until the sun reaches the top of the ducal palace spires." Ewald went down to the second floor to wake Tom and others. He opened the door of a room where Tom and others were using... at least he tried to. The door only opened halfway. Ewald looked behind the door to see what was blocking the door and saw Tom's head against the door. Ewald reopened the door with a lot more speed. The door stopped again but this time with a dull sound of the door hitting Tom's head. While Tom was letting out a painful moan, Ewald managed to enter the room. He grabbed a sheath from the floor and began to beat people in the room with it. People got up quickly to avoid more beating and some even rushed out of the room or at least tried until they tripped over Tom and fell on top of him. After enough time to drink a cup of warm milk, everyone managed to gather in front of the inn. Ewald-"Run around the red district five times and come back. The first to arrive will be spared from running another lap. We will repeat it until the last person finishes." Tom-"Oh come on, Captain. My head feels like it is going to break in half!" Ewald-"Tom if I were you, I would be running." Tom-"What?" Tom looked around and realized no one was around him. He spitted out a cursed word and chased after the rest of the 1st Platoon. |
Chapter 11.3
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) The 1st Platoon was doubled in size in a single day. With addition of twenty five men, Hernfelk had fifty men under his command. As soon as the new soldiers joined his platoon, he ordered Captain Ewald to train them to improve cohesion. After eight hours of intense training, exhausted and hungry soldiers helped each other to the inn. Hernfelk ordered three roasted pigs for the men which made his men rejoice. But their rejoice turned into despair when Hernfelk ordered them to pack their things after the meal. Tom-"Umm... Sir, we just had eight hours of training." Hernfelk-"And we are going to do more training. Walking a couple hundred miles will help you digest your food. Captain, I will go ahead and wait my men in the eastern gate. Make sure they run to the gate." Ewald-"Yes, Sir." Tom-"Sir! We just ate! We can't run!" Hernfelk-"Damn it Tom. Just imagine your wife is chasing after you. You will run like my new horse. I am going now. Don't be late." The 1st Platoon managed to gather at the eastern gate within half an hour. Some men who ate too much puked on the way but most of the men managed to keep their meal from climbing back up. As soon as they arrived at the gate, Ewald made his men line up and shout numbers. The last soldier-"Fifty!" Ewald-"Sir! All fifty men of the 1st Platoon has gathered!" Hernfelk-"Good. Give them a short break. We will be marching toward Perdan. Everyone is gathering there and I am already late." Tom-"Why are we gathering in Perdan, Sir? Shouldn't we be returning to Ar Mosul?" Hernfelk-"And do what? help peasants cultivate the land? I don't exactly know why we are gathering in Perdan but I am sure it has something to do with Westmoor. Have you even seen those reports? Westmoor hasn't won a major battle since the war started. Their incompetent general and marshals can't do anything on their own." Tom-"And we are probably going to help them?" Hernfelk-"That is what I think, Tom. Stop trying to delay the march now. Start moving!" |
Chapter 11.4 (100th)
Roleplay from Hernfelk Lapallanch (just sent) Message sent to everyone in your realm (53 recipients) When Tom read him the order, Hernfelk immediately stopped Captain Ewald from training his men. Instead he ordered everyone to pack up to march towards Bescanon. As the men scattered to gather their things, Captain Ewald approached Hernfelk. Ewald-"Sir, are we finally..." Hernfelk-"Yes, Captain. Finally, we are going to help our incompetent ally! Rivers will run red with the blood of both Fontanese and Ibladeshi!" Tom-"Sir, Should I send a message to Ar Mosul? It would be helpful if we can get Mary and Nora to join us." Hernfelk shook his head. He knew Mary and Nora would not fight beside Caligusians as they lost their brothers to them. Hernflek-"No. Ar Mosul needs them more than I. Let them work on rebuilding Ar Mosul. We can just select a few men to help Captain Ewald lead my men. Tom, select two sergeants to help the captain. Each sergeant will be leading twenty men each. The remaining ten men will guard me." Tom-"Jack and Ronald will be good, Sir." Ewald nodded approvingly. While they were talking about selecting sergeants, soldiers of the 1st Platoon finished packing their bags and began to line up behind Ewald. Hernfelk-"Alright then. Those two will be sergeants from now on. Captain, I think we are ready to march now." Ewald-"Jack and Ronald, come forward." Two men took a step forward. Both were about half a head shorter than Tom. Ronald was a slim darker skinned man from Brive and Jack was a fat pale skinned man from Bescanon. Both were recruited with the gold Hernfelk received from General Atanamir. Ewald-“You two will each lead twenty men from now on. Pick them quickly. We are marching right after that.” As Jack and Ronald chose their men, hundreds of men walked by them. Forests of banners covered their views and the sound of thousand footsteps echoed their ears. Hernfelk ordered the men to follow the marching army. After several hours, the 1st Platoon arrived in the townsland of Bescanon. They ate their dinner there and marched onward to Troyes. |
