Sir Astinex Granitecleaver of the Granitecleaver Family has recently been knighted and is looking to assist his Kingdom in any way he can.

In Search of Adventure

Sir Astinex had grown up on his Family’s Estate in Ash'rily. As a young boy he was fascinated by the stories of brave knights and valiant heroes who saved the Kingdom many times. In hopes of finding he was of a valiant blood line, Astinex searched and studied in his Family’s Library for their history. He was disappointed to find the only hero of note in his Family’s history was its founder Barl Granitecleaver.

When Astinex was old enough, he began to understand the truth of his Family. His Family was the type that peasants and commoners referred to as dandies. In Astinex’s eyes his Family was a burden to the Kingdom, not an asset. Astinex promised himself he would dedicate his life to changing this. He would lead his Family’s name back to glory.

As fate would have it, Astinex’s Uncle Eldon III, current Lord of Family Granitecleaver, did not have a male heir. This left Astinex in line to inherit the Family Estate. Eldon III did not approve of Astinex’s desire for adventure, and secretly hoped Astinex might meet a gruesome end. If Astinex were to die, and Eldon III’s daughter was to have a male child, the Family Estate would go to Eldon III’s grandchild. As it happens, even if Astinex were to die, his son Astinex II would stand to inherit the Estate.

The Gleaming Blades

After being knighted, Sir Astinex looked for volunteers from his Family’s serfs to form a company of soldiers. Several men volunteered and The Gleaming Blades were formed.

           The Gleaming Blades
            Type: Infantry
            Strength: 20 men
            Training: 70 %
            Weapons/Armour: 34% / 34%
                    Damage: 0 %
            Morale: 100 %
            Cohesion: 100 %
            Combat Strength: 327
            Designation: army
       Paraphernalia: 3 scouts, 2 Carts, 1 Healers, 4 Banners

The company’s standards show the three crests of kingdom, duchy and family along the top, but have a different symbol filling the rest of the banner. The symbol here is of three swords placed as to form a triangle with the hilt of each sword touching the tip of another. In the center of the sword made triangle is a single candle giving off a light which pushes back the darkness surrounding the blades.
