Goldwater Family/Foxburg

From BattleMaster Wiki

Description

Palace

Built in the inner courtyard, the two storied palace serves as residence for the lord and his guests. All rooms, both for the lord and the guests, are on the upper floor, together with the Great hall and Chapel, dedicated to Leandra. This floor can only be accessed by a staircase from the courtyard and is disconnected from the servant's lower floor.

Below lies both the kitchen and bakery, feeding everyone within the castle, as well as rooms for most notable servants.

Burgraviate

The main administrative building of the castle, hosting the castle scriptorium, the Burgrave's office and a smaller hall, used for audiences resolved by the Burgrave. The Burgrave is responsible for maintaining Foxburg in the lord's stead, and as such takes care of tax collection, castle management and acts as judge in local disputes. In his service are employed a few more servants, such as the steward, responsible for the treasury and all accounting done at Foxburg.

Burgrave's Palace

A smaller palace, where the serving Burgrave lives with his family and keeps lesser guests, that didn't fit into the main palace. It is well built and well decorated, almost as well as the main, lord's palace.

Donjon

The main and tallest tower of Foxburg, made of plastered stone with wooden hoardings, stands proud in the inner courtyard. Accesible only by an elevated staircase from the courtyard itself, the donjon forms the last line of defense should enemies break into the castle. As such, it has its own well and hosts large granaries, where most of the garrison's supplies are stored. Upper floors are reserved for the guards, offering them places to sleep, store their gear in the armoury and eat.

Below the donjon lies the dungeon with several cells, one, better furnished, for noble prisoners, and the rest in form of dark rooms without windows, only accesible via a ladder through the floor.
