There is no more powerful position in the government of a realm than that of the Banker. Of course, this is closely followed by that of a Duke. This paper will show quite easily how a Banker and in some cases a Banker allied with a Duke can rake in money hand over fist.

First we'll discuss things that can be done without the assistance of a Duke. Why not involve a Duke? For this, we get Rule Number 1, "Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead." Let me reiterate that, it's important! Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead!

With that in mind, let's look at solo scams and frauds that a Banker can commit.

Food Fraud: As the Banker of a realm, there are many scams and frauds you can commit regarding the Food and trade system. These can be done on both sides of the balance sheet, sales or purchase of food.

Let's start with surplus food frauds. As any trader knows, it's really hard to make any real money hustling food. But as the Banker of a realm, you have the deck stacked for your own devious needs. Stockpile a thousand bushels in a border region, sell them to yourself for 1 gold per 100 and make a killing when you resell. Besides, you can undercut anyone on price! Sell them at 28 per 100 and rake in a nice profit of 270 gold for a few days work. Want more? Just think bigger! Try this with 2000 bushels!

  • No longer possible since bankers now have no direct control over prices. Will need to collude with a Duke.
