Air Element

A Study Maker of the Air Element will be required to learn the practical uses, the rituals and the theories of this element and take the Second Grade Test in order to become a Master Elementalis.

Uses:

  • As the Air Element is not a concrete substance, it is primarily a ritual and theoretical Element.
  • A ritual of this element, in conjunction with a Fire Element ritual, comprises the Elementalis Death Rites.

Rituals:

  • Ritual of Vital: An Air Elementalis performs this ritual on newborn babies at the beginning of its life. It is to celebrate the child’s first breath and to bless the child to have many breaths, hoping it a long life.
  • Ritual of Exhale: An Air Elementalis Journeyman performs this ritual at the moment of a person’s death. This is a ritual done to respect and commemorate the dying last breath. The final exhale is collected into a special decorated container and kept by the deceased’s family as a memento. Much like the function of an urn except instead of a container for ashes it is to contain breath. This is an important ritual in the Elementalis Death Rites. Once the Air Elementalis has collected the last breath, a Fire Elementalis will place the corpse on a funeral pyre and allow the divinities to consume it through fire.

Theories:

  • Theory of Circulation: Sage Bundula based off observations from her teacher Sage Sheerrun Taph. Tenant: Air that enters is not the Air that exits, but exits sometime later.
  • Theory of Air Revivification: Sage Woismusth, School of Esoteric Respiration founded by Sage Zisander. Possibility of giving life through mastery of the Air Element.
  • Theory of Transportation By Means of the Air Element: First found in a recorded event documenting an Unknown Elementalis, Sage Dedalorr’s Levitation Elixir, and School of Great Heights founded by Sages Elima and Jorinda. Possibility of using the Air Element for transportation, either to fly or in other means.
