An Najaf Fall Festival!

Music Competition

Armstrong stood before the crowd ready to address them. They were sitting and about to begin the feast. The stage was being organized for the imminent competition.

“Fellow An Najafi, we have gathered to continue our beloved festival traditions! As this night marks the season of fall we celebrate with a competition of song. This festival must uphold a special responsibility, one that honours and commemorates a true Democratic Heroine, a true walker of the Fontanese Way, and one of our lands finest. This competition is dedicated to the memory of Duchess Amelia Bernstein, who fell in battle in Hagely battling the vile Perdanese. Hiss hissss to them! She was the Saviour of Krimml a wonderful Duchess and an inspiring heroine. For that, we honour her tonight. Let us begin the competition of song! Sir Jon Paul, if you will…”

Jon Paul looked around at those assembled for the music competition of the Fall Festival. He mentally shook his head. He had no idea how he was going to do this, but he truly wanted to honor the late Lady Amelia. He took a deep breath and stepped forward.

“Fellow Fontanians, I am no singer, as my bride Lady KatalynFae can attest.” He looked at his new wife and she smiled.

“I play no musical instrument, so my entry to the competition is without melody.”

He paused, and a smile touched his face, and then he continued.

“As everyone I am sure knows, The Lady Amelia was more than just a hero and a duchess, she was, and is my reason for the determined service I give to Fontan.

So I give you…

For Amelia Fair

How can mere words describe you, lovely Lady Amelia Fair?

For what great deeds and lore could ever compare?

Your dedication; a shining example to follow,

Your memory long in our hearts will glow.

Your leadership as duchess of Krimml was inspiring,

Bravely keeping your home from dying.

Your valor and honor on the field was without equal

All Fontan mourned the fateful day you fell.

Your sacrifices for Fontan were beyond value,

Far more than any honor that we may now give you.

How can mere words describe you, lovely Lady Amelia Fair?

They cannot, but here you have my heart laid bare.

With the last, his voice grew husky and he hurried back to where KatalynFae was standing, waiting for her love.

Armstrong takes the stage after Sir Jon Paul sits down beside the elegant incomparible Lady KatalynFae. He clears his throat and begins his first song for Duchess Amelia...

Lamentation of the Lost

Now nobles of all ages collapsed and wept,

For we had lost our mighty daughter,

We suffer the loss of a great one as she,

Lament the loss of the Duchess, A pain like no other,

O’ Speak the word to bring her back,

And I will give all I offer, Lament the loss of the Duchess,

We suffer the loss of a great one as she,

For we have lost our mighty daughter,

And all collapsed of all ages, and for the fallen wept.

He shuffled a little and got ready to sing the next. The second of a trio...

Armstrong then begins his next song for Duchess Amelia...

Celebration of the Living

Our hearts have seen the trueness of life, they have, they have,

Our hearts have seen the trueness of life, the have!

We know our hero was true to us, and we shall all praise her,

We know our hero was true to us, and we shall remember her!

O’Praise our hero for her life, she has shown us truth!

Our souls have seen the glory of life, they have, they have,

Our souls have seen the glory of life, they have!

We know our hero was glory for us, and we shall all praise her,

We know our hero was glory for us, and we shall remember her!

O’Praise our hero for her life, she has given us glory

If you know the name of Amelia, you’re blessed up by one,

So sing the name of Duchess Amelia and praise it a ton!

For we Fontanese were blessed by her, and she was gracing us,

O’Praise our hero for her life, she has blessed us!

Our sons and daughters now know precious life, they do, they do,

Our sons and daughters now know precious life, they do!

We know our hero was precious to us, and we shall all praise her,

We know our hero was precious to us, and we shall remember her!

O’Praise our hero for her life, she was precious to us!

Our enemies fear her rise again, they do, they do,

Our enemies fear her rise again, they do!

We know our hero will come again, and we shall all praise her,

We know our hero will come again, and we shall remember her!

O’Praise our hero for her life, she will return to us!

If you know the name of Amelia, you’re blessed up by one,

So sing the name of Duchess Amelia and praise it a ton!

For we Fontanese were blessed by her, and she was gracing us,

O’Praise our hero for her life, she has blessed us!

O’Praise our hero for her life, she has died for us!

O’Praise our hero for her life, she has strengthened us!

So sing the name of Duches Amelia and praise it a ton!

For we Fontanese were blessed by her, and she was gracing us!

He bowed with a dry throat and sat down for the next performer. He was saving the third one for last. It was his favourite...

After the rest of the bards sang their songs for Duchess Amelia, Armstrong returned to the stage for his final performance of the festival.

(This song is to the Mr.Grinch Tune)

She was a brave one, Duchess Amelia,

She really was our hero!

She terrified her enemies and

Made them soil their panties

Duchess Amelia,

She was a true Fontanese hero and we

Cannot forget her!

She was a wise one, Duchess Amelia,

She really knew her stuff!

She captured Krimml super quick

Without spilling any blood,

Duchess Amelia,

I would think other realms sorely missed out of her heroics and are jealous

Of one as glorious as her!

She was a mighty one, Duchess Amelia,

She really fought well!

Though her battle in Hagely

was the last of her career,

Duchess Amelia,

Those Perdanese who fought on that field probably

Went home and cried!

She was Democratic, Duchess Amelia,

She really believed in it!

It is true that she was better

Than any enemy we fought,

Duchess Amelia!

I wouldn’t trade one Duchess for the whole lot of

Enemy nobles!

The crowd went wild clapping and cheering and dancing along.

"May Duchess Amelia rest in peace and her life inspire us all to be a hero like her in our own way." Armstrong finished.

With that, the Music Competition had ended.
