The Doomed Shield of the Dragonslayer was uncovered by the adventurer Diarmid (rumored to be a bastard son of the Aiodh Family) in the foreboding forests of Gadlock. After traveling across the continent to deliver the Black Book to king Shady of the Obisidian Islands, Diarmid set out to rid the land he now found himself in of the undead beasts who had been prowling the area, feasting on the corpses of the dead.
The Shield must have belonged to a great warrior of a former age, although scribes have not yet uncovered his name. Perhaps it was the shield which turned its bearer into an undead beast, in exchange for the might to defeat a dragon.
