Derhem Family

The Derhem family is considered a younger house than most noble houses, yet has ties through marriage to a couple very old, and prestigious families. The current head of the household is Talof and his wife Isabel. The main family estate for the Derhem's is located in the region of An Najaf, which currently belongs to the realm of Fontan. The best known members of this family are three cousins Atwin, Caedmon, and Valen. The three left the family estate at the age of 17 to find their own way in life.

Atwin Derhem

Atwin is the son of Avery Derhem, Talof's Son. A rash and loudspoken child, as Atwin grew he learned to temper his tongue, and while still outspoken he has developed enough sense to use some tact even when he disagrees with others. Atwin is the only one of the three cousins who was born and raised in An Najaf. Feeling as though he had somehow missed something in life compared to his other cousins because he had only stayed in one small area his whole life, Atwin set out for Atamara. Not finding the continent to his liking, he eventually made his way to Dwilight and make is way in the rough and uncivilized land.

After a few months of wandering Atwin made his home in Caerwyn. After exploring most of western dwilight and collecting tomes and scrolls from various towns and cities, Atwin founded Verdis Elementum.

Caedmon Derhem

Caedmon is the son of Jerix Beijar and Merin Derhem, Talof's youngest daughter. He was a quiet child and often preferred to do things by himself and in his own way. His grandparents weren't sure if his tendency to do things by himself were due to the sudden disappearance of his father and death of his mother, or just a part of his personality. As Caedmon grew older he developed a cynical sense of humor and while still quiet, can have a scathing tongue when he speaks. Choosing not to serve Fontan, yet still wanting to stay on the East Island, Caedmon found a liege in Perdan and pledged his service to the realm.

During the secession of Westmoor, Caedmon followed his duchy's lead and Morshes became a part of the new realm. After a short period Caedmon was elected Judge after the previous Judge no longer had the time to handle all the responsibilities of the position.

Valen Derhem

Valen is the son of Jasper Verdis and Sophia Derhem, Talof's eldest daughter. The oldest of the three boys who were raised together, Valen always had a strong sense of duty and viewed most events impartially and without showing much emotion. His strong sense of duty stayed with him as he felt it was his duty to stay and serve in his home's realm, Fontan. After a couple of months of service, Valen started to feel on edge and not entirely sure why boarded a boat and sailed to Beluaterra once the ports were open. After a short stint in Old Grehk, Valen made his way to Atamara and joined the realm of Caergoth hoping to find a realm that he could call home.
