Pandora was baffled at the amount of letters coming in, all neatly stacked for her to examine its contents. She had never received any letters before. The first envelope she had picked up had a red and black seal with a winged creature imprinted in gold. Gingerly, she opened its contents as to not destroy the gilded seal.

Welcome to Perdan. . . contact your liege lord or lady so you can introduce yourself and if you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to send me a letter.

Pandora was filled with horror, she had to write a letter back. What did her parents teach her back then? What should she write? Maybe it would sound too juvenile to send her thanks. How do you even thank someone? What if this noble hated to be thanked? Ah yes- what if she addressed the noble wrongly?

She unevenly scribbles out some sentences. But what did she learn to sign off with again?

Pandora’s eyes started to wander around the room, temporarily distracted by her new surroundings. The room had a earthy green smell. Her men were in line formation, all with seemingly stone-cold expressions and an unwillingness for eye contact.

A peculiar envelope was waiting for her to be opened, sealed with a gilded lion reaching for three blue stars. The edges of the letter had a clear sheen that caught her attention.

I know being so newly knighted can feel like being swept into something vast.

Pandora was struck with homesickness. The lump in her throat started to swell. She was appreciative of the Queen’s words in an unfamiliar setting. She folded the letter neatly to preserve its condition, that she may need to reread it again in hard times.

Bright yellow-blue diagonal cute with velvet purple in the shape of a winged animal. Pandora had never seen such of a family seal before. The envelope was easily opened and hadn’t seem to go through any wear or tear, but she did not think much of it.

I take a strong interest in all our newcomers, and particularly those of my own lands. . .

Pandora received a warm welcome and thought of this noble to be friendly. She did not think much of this sentence until she realized whom this letter was written by.

To her surprise, this was unexpected. Was this her lord? No it couldn’t be. The lord that took her ought to be ruthless, a respectable terror. Something she was surely warned about by her family before coming to Perdan, with toss and turns in her sleep over this.

She read the letter again in disbelief, and at the same time, terribly relieved. The seal of the diamond yellow-blue was of her lord.
