Not much is known about the parents of Peter I of Dyzig besides that he himself was a grandson of Chief.

According to legend, Dyzig was founded by a foreigner, who married Dyzig, the daughter of the local chief. If this chief is the same as Chief, then Dyzig would have been the mother of Peter. However, many believe the legend to be of a more ancient time and that Dyzig was already well established by the time of Chief.

Others actually believe a son of Chief married the only daughter of Dyzig's chieftain and thus became the father of Peter. This might explain the prominence of Peter, who would have a stronger claim through a father than a mother. However, there are several stories about daughters, but there are none about sons of Chief - which may mean he actually had no sons.
