Previous: a New Priest

A Priest Attacked

Upon written request of the Ruler of Avalon, the Druids have been requested to take up work in Piwani, to attempt to influence the land in becoming a region belonging to Avalon. Hector, after recieving the request, immediately turns around and heads towards Piwani. After a few days, he reaches his destination, and sets up camp on the outskirts of town.

Hector was preaching in Piwani when a parchment came with a red seal on it. He wrapped up his surmon and proceeded to his camp and entered his tent. He opened the letter, his hard eyes starring in disbelief at the words he was reading. Kara had been attacked while preaching in Wilwau, and was in serious condition.

His heart was pounding, rage welling up inside him at the thought of her lying in the street while a hatefull mob kicked at her, repeatedly, until she was not conscience. He began to shake and noticed he was crushing the parchment. He let it go and sat back on his cot. He starred off, hearing nothing, feeling nothing just thinking of her. Possibly dying as he sat there. He stood up and leaned on his dresser chest staring at the white, canvas tent wall as it fluttered from the wind. He suddenly raked everything off the dresser and shoved it to the side, spinning with anger, then leaned again on the dresser.

His scribe had heard all of the commotion and peaked into the tent, "Lord Hector, is all well?"

"That blastfamous religion... By the Devine One, they will pay!!! They will suffer one day! Scribe, compose a strongly worded letter for our General to consider action against such a religion, be it military or sanctions!!!" Hector says.

"Yes, sire"

"Wait.... wait, on second thought, strike that letter, when the time is right, I will act."

"Mi'lord" the scribe bows as he leaves his tent.

Hector sits in his chair and stares off again, thinking of her.

Dangers in Tey Gren

The next day, Hector sits down in his tent after preaching for 12 hours straight. He converted many people that day, but was extremely tired. He realized he had neglected Jean and Siobhan in his writings and thoughts. He was very happy to have a new order with three priests dedicated to the order, but was pleasantly puzzled by why now he had 2 women sign up to spread the faith and one new man.

He laughed somewhat to himself, he felt like a mother duck, and was proud to see his new fledgling priests already starting to make a major impact. He was very happy to read the scroll containing Jean's progress and very concerned to read the trouble Siobhan was feeling near Tey Gren. He was worried from another report he recieved that showed creatures from the underworld in the region Siobhan was in. He was terrified they were coming to stop the advancement of the order, and perhaps there was another invasion at the brink of happening.

He immediately dispatched a messenger to Zod, where the Colony Tree lives, to check on it's status. To ensure it is still alive, preventing another invasion.

He turned his thoughts back to Siobhan, he leans forward and composes a letter:

"Siobhan, please be careful while in and around Tey Gren. There have been undead and monsters spotted in that region. Remember hallowed ground protects you so find a church, any church or a shrine and hide there if you are attacked. Fire is also good protection against them. If you are forced to fight, bless your sword first, or it may not kill them. Take care, walk lightly and may you be protected in your travels.

Signed, Hector, Grand Master Druid"

Hector looks up from his letter and calls for a messenger. As he seals it in an envelope, colored in blue, with a red seal, Hector instructs the messenger to deliver it to her as fast as possible.

"Yes sire, I shall".

Hector lies down to try to get some sleep, with all his priests in possible danger, he has found very little time for sleep.

Siobhan gets the letter

As night was falling, Siobhan saw a rider approaching from the opposite direction.

"Lady Siobhan?"

Siobhan's hand instinctively moved to her sword.

"An urgent dispatch from Grand Master Druid Hector."

He handed the envelope to her and immediately turned around. After only a few seconds he had disappeared from sight. Siobhan read the letter and smiled. 'I'll be in Piwani in a couple of hours', she thought. Safe and sound...

Welcome to Piwani

Roleplay by Siobhan

The signpost had not been very promising about what lay ahead. Hardly readable, worn from the weather, written in clumsy capitals. The roads began to deteriorate rapidly the further she got from the border and were soon reduced to a trail of mud. She remembered one of her conversations with a trader she had met on the way, driving a worn and dirty wagon. They had talked the night through, about the road, peddling merchants, thieves and rogues, and Druidism. He had managed to convince her the road is an addiction you can never shake, she had converted him to Druidism and had blessed him and his transport.

Sacrificing a night's sleep to convert one didn't seem that logical to Erin but numbers didn't matter that much to Siobhan. 'One or a hundred makes a big difference to the Order, but not to me'. She had emerged wiser from that night, and so did he. 'Only Truth matters.'

As they rode into the village she noticed the banners of two Avalonien units: one Cavalry, one Archers. Seeing their large campments, she felt a lot safer. The soldiers looked disciplined, well-equipped and high on morale. Most of the men who she crossed greeted her reverently, some came up to talk to her. True, the reality of the battlefield leaves one with many demons to chase. Some words of comfort can reinforce the will to fight but words of understanding are more usefull to warriors. They showed her the way to where GMD Hector had put up his tent. Some of the archers came along to help her put up hers, so she could rest from the long journey. From Lacint to Piwani, nearly half across the island. Soon, the white tent was up and fresh water was brought to her. She could freshen up and speak with Lord Hector to recieve orders.

Hector and Siobhan

Hector was resting in his tent when his scribe poked his head in the tent flap, "Mi'Lord, Lady Siobhan has arrived... safely."

Hector gets up from his cot and lies there for a moment. His fears of the safety of all three of the priests he had recently inducted had taken a toll. Kara was attacked in Wilwau by an evil religious group and serisouly wounded. Jean had sent word he was on his way, but had not left yet, unbeknownst to Hector, causing him to worry, and Siobhan had crossed alone through a monster infested region in Tey Gren to get to Piwani.

But slowly and surely, Hector had recieved good new, first, Kara had recovered from her wounds and would be on her way soon, Jean had sent word he was held up, trying to convert more followers in Orombo and Siobhan had just walked into their camp. The day could not be brigher to Hector.

He donned his druid cloak and walked out to see Siobhan having her tent setup about 300 yards from Hector. He walked through some mud, and some saturated grass. He looked up at the skies, they were blue today, with a few white clouds. It was a beautiful day.

Hector saw Siobhan from behind and said, "How are you, priest?"

Siobhan turned around. "Lord Hector, it's good to see you, I have much news, and a few tales to regale you with."

Hector smiled, "I would much like that. I also came to tell you to strike your tent even before it's setup."

"Why's that?"

"The peasants here are already tired of me... seems I keep saying the same things over and over again, and well, not much progress will be made. I think we should move to Tey Gren... eh hem... from where you just came, actually..." A smile passes Hector's face, as he recalls a few of the trials and tribulations he had to endure when first becoming a Druid.

"Of course, we'll strike camp at once." Siobhan replied, looking a bit irritated.

"Not so fast, you have some time. I myself will not be traveling for another 8 hours or so, just enough time for us to do some training, talk about what you've exprienced and generally get to know each other. Give me an hour to rest, then meet me in that small tent in the center of the camp. That's where all our archived materials are." Hector said.

Siobhan was excited to get some one-on-one time to study some of the Druid History with Hector and nodded very happily. "See you in an hour".
