Artemesia Family/Hounds of Heaven
Only a few more steps. A few more steps, and he would see light again. The corridor twisted, almost as if alive, but Garret knew it would let him pass. This journey was meant to happen. He thought about the ceremony that would occur later in the week, where his formal induction to the priesthood would commence and complete in Flowrestown. But that felt far away, as he felt his way through the complex maze beneath the Temple of Day and Night.
He was greeted as usual when he emerged from the opening to the Labyrinth. The familiar women were all gathered around the entrance, along with the hermit. Garret shook his head. "I see you were expecting me."
The hermit coughed, and the young Dongese woman who often served as the intermediary between the temple guardians and Garret walked up to him with two objects in her hands. "Galahad, the Temple always knows who enters, and when they will emerge." She placed the two objects in his hands.
Garret looked down, and saw two glass orbs, one red, the other, blue. Inside the blue orb was a phantom image of a dragon, scaled down, but still as fearsome as ever. Although Garret had never seen a dragon before and doubted their existence, he heard descriptions of their purported forms. And he almost dropped the orb in surprise.
"Surprised, Stargazer?" Asked the woman. "You should have known that many ambitious men of ages past had tried to claim the Balance, but the Labyrinth sees through them. They never find the Balance so long as their souls are that extreme. The Arexi's soldiers were bound to this rule. As were Oremnas'.
Looking down at the other orb, Garret saw three faintly shimmering lights glowing inside. "The...Trinity!" He exclaimed. "But how?"
The woman smiled. "From earth, from the heavens. The hound of heaven was bound by flesh. The brilliance of heaven was bound by light. Now, leave Galahad, until we give you the call once more. Return these to their rightful owners. Soon, it will be time for the Temple to at last be not a Retreat, but a Nexus. But that time is not now."
