Origins

Where House Tarvitz originate from, none but the family records can say; the first mention of their name was in Nid Tek on the continent of Dwilight. A man named Loken Tarvitz arrived, along with a few members of his family, and a letter addressed to him from a friend; the count of Nid Tek, Count Ramiel.

The family, although noble, was not an especially rich one, with little money to start themselves off in the world. Loken Tarvitz, being of the older generation, pushed for his son, Saul, to go out into the world and become a knight and make a name for himself. Using what gold they had remaining, the family went to the local market and brought a horse, armour, sword and shield. Taking the shield to a local arms master, they had it emblazoned with the family coat of arms, with an alteration that would denote Saul as a knight himself and identify him as the first born of the family.

With only the items that were brought on that fateful day, Saul travelled to the estate of the local lord, Count Ramiel and swore an oath of fealty to him. In return for his services, Count Ramiel provided gold for the family to enlarge their estate so that they could begin to help in maintaining the region of Nid Tek; the region they now called home.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms was designed to be the embodiment of the values and honour of House Tarvitz. The colours each hold their own separate meaning meaning; on the shield itself Gules represents military strength and magnanimity, Stable represents constancy and Argent represents peace and serenity. On the left hand side of the shield are three Passant Griffins, representing Valour, Vigilance and Bravery in the face of death. In the bottom right there are two axes in saltire signifying resolution in the execution of military duty. Last but not least, a black chevron representing constancy in protection of others. At the bottom of the shield, is a piece of scroll on which the words "Semper patriae servire presto" are written. This translates in the common tongue as "Be always ready to serve your country".

The coat of arms differs for each member of the family, generally showing the order that they belong to and which son they are. Daughters are not permitted to carry the coat of arms as they do not ride into battle, but instead perform tasks around the household keeping everything in order.
