Kandurell Family/Dren

Summary

The third son of a family from Moramroth, Dren ventured to the Far East to seek his fortune. After a short time as a knight in the service of Septimus Scarlett then Dieter de Blanc, the viking was appointed Marshal of the newly formed Elite Knighthood of Ethiala. Having proven himself in its command, he was given the title of Baron of Lantzas. Dieter de Blanc, Duke of Lasop, shortly seceded from Ethiala. Dren had no choice but to follow him. He was soon put in the position of General of the newly formed realm of Kamador, and elected Judge no fewer than 19 times after some electoral misunderstandings. However, the peasants of Lantzas did not appear to like Dren's straightforwards nature, and removed him from the baronship.

After much internal conflict Dren eventually left Kamador, deciding at last that Dieter had become power obsessed, to join Arcaea.

My thanks for the pecuniary contribution to my force. I am honoured to have been appointed to the position of Marshal of the Elite Knighthood of Ethiala, and shall do my utmost to fulfil my duty.

The big viking read the letter aloud to his bard, his voice rough and somewhat doubtful. "Pecuniary contribution? Are you sure?" he inquired.

"Certainly, sir, it is entirely appropriate."

Dren shook his head. "This marshalling business will suit me well, but the rest that goes with it is less welcome. My letter writing is not as well developed as my axe swinging." He sighed and looked over at the singer. "I'm going to need more of your help to become accustomed to the proper forms and vocabulary."

"And as always, I am here to serve." replied the bard, fluently.

"As I serve Ethiala." Dren stood up, folded the letter and handed it to a waiting messenger, who quickly departed. "Now there's some organising to be done!"
