Falasan vs Cagilan Empire and Various Other Realms War

Rumours

[This was posted to the [RP list], so you can view it there.]

After battle in Chagasu and Corniel

16 May 2008

Crip has his head in his left hand; his right hand resting on his sword. Two weeks ago, he had proudly marched sixty-seven men into Corniel. Half of them had been left to guard the region, while the other half stayed with Crip.

But now, of those that stayed with Crip, barely any remained. Half killed in Chagasu; the other half killed in the ferocity of the enemy charge in Corniel.

For a brief moment, it had been so fabulous. The chance for Crip to fight alongside his old men in Corniel. Two troops carrying the banner of The Bridge, fighting side by side, as if they'd never been separated. But then, fighting side by side had changed to dying side by side and later retreating side by side. They had fought well, he felt, but it was far too little. His own troop had been decimated, and though a few more from his old troop survived, they were in poor shape, and he suspected many of them wouldn't make it through the day.

So Crip sits, as he watches the many coloured banners of the many enemy realms through the gaps in his fingers, and wonders what has changed to cause all this. He'd not seen how they were a threat when they were all near Tucha, and the Empire had attacked in Nazia, but he understands even less the reasons for this war now.

Crip meets with the Talerium General

8-10 June 2008

[This is too long to put here, so I've stuck it on a separate page for Meeting with Talerium General. This involved Sir Solak Marioneaux.]

Refitting in Barad Gardor

10 June 2008

Crip: Come on, men, time to get marching! Sooner we get back to Barad Gardor, sooner you can get a decent meal, and sooner we can see Duke Willem's mighty army that we've been hearing such reports of - a strength of a thousand, they say!

Werner: Now sir? Or in ten minutes?

Crip: Now, Werner!

Werner: [pointing to the carts only half-filled with Elroth brandy] Or in ten minutes, sir?

Crip: Ah, oh, yes. In ten minutes! Be ready then!

Royal Treasurer Steps Down

25 July 2008

Liert: Sir?

Crip: Come in, come in, Liert. I have some important information for you to write out to all our realm.

Liert: Ok, sir, I am ready.

Crip: To all the nobles in Falasan, I must announce that I intend to cease my position as banker of Falasan in a week's time.

Liert: [surprised] Sir? But...

Crip: [quietly] Please, Liert, just write. I have been banker of this fine realm now for a fair few months, and have done my best to avoid starvation of our regions through our periods of peace and more recently through our war. I hope that I have done that adequately well.

Crip: It has been an honour to serve Falasan, and though I intend to continue to do so, I believe I must cease to do so from the position of banker. I have responsibilities to my family, and have had news of troubles with my cousins, and may yet need to go away for a short time to help my aunt and uncle deal with them. I also have responsibilities to the Way of the Warrior Saints. And also I have some of the finest men I am proud to take into battle.

Crip: These responsibilities are likely to leave me too little time to deal with the needs of the position of banker, and may indeed take me away from the realm for short periods, and I believe that the realm would be better suited by someone else taking on the role of banker. I shall of course provide as much support as I can.

Crip: As we move from a defensive position in this war, hopefully to a more offensive one, starting today with the recovery of Picnu, I believe I have helped to see us through our worst situation, and it therefore seems a fitting time to hand over the role to another.

Liert: Is there anything more, sir?

Crip: Probably, though I can't think of it. Make some fitting sign-off, Liert, and send it out, please. And please make sure the King gets his copy first.

Liert: Yes, sir. And, er, sir... will we.. will I...

Crip: [smiling kindly] Of course, Liert, whatever comes next, I shall continue to be needing your excellent services, do not fear.
