As I was searching through the forest for the undead I came upon a very ancient graveyard with strange lights flickering among the graves. Drawing closer towards the unnatural light I noticed that the light was rolling outwards, almost like a fog, from one large sarcophagus at the center of the graveyard.

Rumors had been spreading across the lands for some months about the undead that had risen up in the region of Joppo, on Beluaterra. Some folks have been saying it was the work of the devil himself coming back to claim his place in the world.  So large was the up rising that eight other adventurers; Rumsfield, Art, Jarrin, NGuts, Gamerk, Kinda, Davide and Only, had arrived before me and were already sending the undead creatures back to where they came from.

Stealing myself I moved forward to get a better look at what was going on when I heard the clicky clack of bones and the whoosh of a sword. Quickly I ducked and rolled to the side, drawing my weapon and standing to meet my attacker. The light around me flared up and out of the graves sprang forth more undead. I confess I panicked and started to blindly attack anything and everything that moved. Suddenly I found myself standing in the center, my back against the giant tomb.

When I first arrived in Joppo word going around at the local inn was that three days before one of our own, Maddock McMasters, had been killed by one of the undead. Many nobles consider us adventurers to be little more then scum but in our way we mourned the passing of one of our own.

Had I not panicked I would not have allowed myself to be herded this way by the undead but as the last of the zombies fell I realized they had accomplished their task. They had brought me to their master. A sense of terror gripped my heart as the lights around me dimmed but a evil chill rose in it's absence. Suddenly I knew what I had to do and ran to the front of the sarcophagus and with all of my weight, and a strength born of fear I pushed open the sarcophagus and drove my sword into the heart of the undead that laid within.

It may have been out of fear as much as companionship that we had decided that we would venture out together that night. Pain seared my arms and exploded inside my head threatening to overcome me. A bright light blinded me in it's flash of brilliance and for a moment I could feel nothing. My vision cleared and I could see naught but the bright light around me and the figure of a man standing before me. Reaching for me with a kind look in his eyes the man seemed at peace, as if finally at rest from his torment. "Take this" he said handing me the helmet from under his arms. "Once this helm was known through out the land as the symbol of my family, and a symbol of peace. Alas, war over took my kingdom and a once peaceful people were forced to go to battle. On the field of battle I called out my foe to a duel to decide the fate of my people. Alas I was not strong enough to win the day and I lost my honor and my people's freedom. As my life drained from me I could hear the laughter of my enemy and it has haunted me all these many years. So, I give you this helm with the hope that whoever bears it find the strength to restore my people and to wash away the blood spilled upon their lands."

As I looked up to the top of the small rise at the edge of town I saw a dark figure painted against the silvery night. Clutched in the figures out stretched claw was a massive sword glinting in the moon lit night.  Suddenly with a yell my companions and I surged forward as one group.  Cutting, now slashing, faster and more desperate as the minutes ticked by, slowly felling the undead that stood in our way. Such was the fury of our attack that the undead daemon himself rode to the front of the battle line, spitting curses and calling out our names, swearing to make each of us apart of his legion. As he drew near he tossed Gamerk aside and as he turned to finish him off I saw my chance!

And then, all was quiet. I stood in the middle of an ancient graveyard with my thoughts and a heavy heart. My sword, having fallen to the ground flickered with a quickly fading red light but the helm in my hands glimmered with a dark red inner light. Retrieving my sword I turned for home and some much needed rest.

Lunging forward I drove my sword into his side with all of my might... time stood still and the sounds of the battle faded till nothing was left in my world save the piercing scream of the Daemon echoing inside of my head. He fell, evaporating into a thin black mist which blew away in the night air. As the battle slowly died down around us I reached out to claim the prize which lay at my feet, his sword.

The Bone Sabre of Daemonslaying

Escent, of the house of Noble, discovered the Bone-Sabre of Daemonslaying on 2007-01-09 after finding and defeating a Undead Champion in Joppo on Beluaterra. On 2007-01-13 Gias Kay, of The Balance traveller family, High Marshal of Old Grehk, Count of Kell, Marshal of the Grand Unison of the Flow of the Balance, of the Kingdom of Old Grehk on Beluaterra, purchased the Bone-Sabre of Daemonslaying for the sum of 100 gold.

(The accounting of the battle for the Bone-Sabre of Daemonslaying as penned by a local bard and given by oral account by Escent, of the house of Noble)

When I first arrived in Joppo word going around at the local inn was that three days before one of our own, Maddock McMasters, had been killed by one of the undead. Those who saw Maddock fall say it was a deamon spat up from hell itself that had cut him down. Many nobles consider us adventurers to be little more then scum but in our way we mourned the passing of one of our own.

It may have been out of fear as much as companionship that we had decided that we would venture out together that night. But, no matter the reason, as the sun went down and the moon rose higher we grabbed our swords and torches and headed out towards the edge of town, each of us hoping to find our courage and riches.
