Summary

An ambitious and experimental side-project, Beyond the Blight is the first time BattleMaster is available in literature form. This e-book contains eight short-stories and explores the events leading up to the 5th Invasion, revealing stories so far ignored or missed by the nobility as it braces for Daimon attacks.

These stories tell off the Blight and of some of the stories at its edge - and inside the blighted lands. For the first time, secrets of darkness are revealed. All stories are entirely in-character, as the experiences of select heroes, villains and just people being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Artwork leading into the chapters completes the strong atmosphere and completes the in-character concept.

An appendix summing up BattleMaster and the history of Beluaterra makes the e-book accessible to non-players. It could make a good and quite unique present for friends who are into fantasy fiction, but don't play BattleMaster - and maybe get them to do so.

Chapters

The first three chapters contain stories that were already seeded as in-character roleplays into Beluaterra during December. The e-book contains updated versions of these stories:

  • Torture Report
  • Confession
  • Boat People

The following chapters are entirely new:

  • The Account of Sir Spencer Rhys Foucher
  • The Unsung Defense of Tey Gren
  • Temple of Darkness
  • Sermon of Evil
  • The Soulforges

Technical Details

The total content in Beyond the Blight is about 12,000 words, as a paperback book it would be about 40 pages, page count for e-readers differs depending on device and text-size - on the iPad, the iBook version comes to about 50 pages.

(not yet finalised - it might be available for Kindle and/or iBooks, depending on details I need to get sorted out with the publisher)

Release Date and Price

The exact release date and price depends on the publishers and online e-book stores, so I can not say for sure. I will let you know as soon as I know.

It will not be free. If you need reasons for that, they are in this forum post, together with other Q&As.
