The Phoenix Guard, formerly known as the Army of Tor is the main army of the realm of Toren, on the South-East Island. Historically, the army has served as the defenders of Tor's kingdom on earth providing an impenetrable defensive wall of soldiers to push back invaders intent on capturing the lands of Toren. Not even during Toren's darkest hour, in the time following the Toren Rebellion, did the Phoenix Guard allow any enemy troops threaten the interior of Toren.
Although their traditional mission was as guard of the realm, the Phoenix Guard has been used a great deal as an invasion force in Toren's expansionist efforts. The most cohesive and highly trained force on the island, the army has been instrumental in the recapture of key territories, such as Lesthem and Neralle.
With Toren increasingly on the offensive, it seems likely the Phoenix Guard will continue to serve as the bulk of the invasion force - but if ever they are needed, no force will be able to break through their ranks and push into the heart of Toren.
