Negotiations in Stora
(6-4-06)
The following was a report from Chancellor Lalakis:
"IMPORTANT The negotiations have begun. Here is my first message to Prometheus (please comment on this, or add any additional requests we may have):
Dear Prometheus, We are here to discuss the possibility of a peaceful surrender of Kalmar Islands and the restoration of you as a KING. I'll be fully honest with you on all issues. There's a fraction of Kalmarians wishing to see you back in order to avoid war. There are others who prefer to die than to lost the Democracy -although they don't have any problems with you specifically. Finally there are young Kalmarians who were born in the Democracy of Kalmar and they are very reluctant to sacrifice the freedom they have enjoyed for some time now although they don't personally know you. And there is also a handful of Kalmarians that simply don't want you back. This is the situation that concerns the mentality of the Kalmrians so far. According to King Dekion's words, OR wishes to see Kalmar a Monarchy again , and you back to the throne. The worries of my people -which constitutes the agenda of the negotiation- include: 1. What is the time table? 2.Who is allowed to stay? 3. Will you ban or execute anyone? Your list needs to be specific, so that we know who needs to take extra precautions. 4.What is your plan of government? 5.How do you intend to fix the problems of the Island? (mainly the strong democratic consience that has been developed to Kalmarian in areas like information flow, taking part in political decision making and implementation etc) 6. Did you learn any lessons from last time? 7. who do you expect to return? 8. Who do you want as the various postions of government? 9.What gaurantee do we have of your word? ---We want to hear your words, not a bunch of smart-aleck remarks. 10. While we were told the terms were not negotiable, how flexible are you on this? We need to know on what we can negotiate.
Important comments: 1. If we have to defend ourselves, the land will be worth less than it is now. Do you really want to be king of the sandbox that badly? This is the general agenda. Simply the list of requests of the People of Kalmar as stated in the Assembly. We can discuss each one respectively or you can give me a numbered list of answers and then add my commnets on this and so on, so on. Your comments will be forwarded to the assembly and then the additional will be forwarded back to you according to what is decided and agreed. When the general framework of the deal is finished, the whole document will be subject of voting in the Assembly."
What Chancellor Lalakis has said is a very accurate description of talk in the Kalmar Islands right now, as well as the varied opinions of the nobles. The results of these talks will serve as the basis for an invasion, or a return to the monarchy, or prefarably something different. Sadly, Old Rancagua doesn't seem to be open for compromise. so far, former King Prometheus has only responded to point 6. He has said that he has not learned any lesson saying "No my friend,no lessons for me."
