Galen eyed the sage wearily. The first time the sage returned his materials trying to 'create' something. The same thing happened the second time. He hoped third time was lucky but if the materials didn't break in the process it would be good enough for him.
Just as he was about to give up and move on to another region, the sage appeared from the dark. Except that he didn't appear exactly. It was more like a light that grew brighter and brighter. It looked like a vest that was floating in space! Then Galen realised, the fool was holding something in front of him as he approached.
"What? No applause? This, my friend, is the Glowing Vest of the Vulcano", smirked the sage.
Galen coughed then asked his usual question, "What does it do? Protect you from vulcanoes?"
"Could be." The sage scratched his head. "Hey, I just make them. I don't test them."
"Right..."
History of Ownership
This unique treasure of the House of Fury was on permanent loan to a trusted friend and comrade who promised to safeguard the family heirloom, and to wield it with honour in battle in the name of the Empire.
Unfortunately the item was lost on the field during the bloody battle of Lyton as the Cagilian Empire fell back from their defeat at Shanandoah. Following the battle the vest was found by Sir Mighty Toff of Calis and he, not knowing of its previous owner, returned with it to his lands in Calis.
However, witnesses spotted Sir Mighty Toff wearing the Vest in the battle of Barad Gardor, about some thirty days after the finding. Word soon reached the prior guardian of the item, who naturally queried how Sir Mighty Toff came by the item.
The dispute was resolved amicably, and the Vest has since been generously returned to the prior guardian, Sir Berlas, alas in dire need of repairs.
Attributes
The Glowing Vest of the Vulcano has been seen to emit bright flashes of light in battle, blinding any foes that the wearer faces. In addition, if any enemies are able to land a blow on the Vest, their weapons become instantly super-heated and begin to melt, so they must either drop them or lose their hand (and perhaps arm).
