The Dream (where Caroline writes to the members of The Valentic Order about a premonition)
... The Realm of Valentia lost another two regions today. We are now down to two.
I had a dream last night. I was sitting at my estate. A map of Beluaterra was open on the table in front of me. As I looked at Valentia, it started to fade. I brushed at it, blew away the cloud of fog. I saw Winifael a bit more clearly, but then it, too, disappeared. I heard a deep laughter and turned around. The blaze in the fireplace grew. The heat was intense and I was forced to walk outside. The gardens were covered in snow and ice. The trees were blooming, and the birds were singing. I looked back to my manor house It had fallen and was a pile of rubble. Then I awoke.
These are not the ramblings of a woman gone mad. I have all of my senses. I just do not see the future of Valentia clearly. It troubles me deeply, as this is the realm that I love.
I have not given up all hope, but the future is bleak and I have great sorrow upon my heart.
