Alexander Shocks! | |
27.08.06 - Several days ago, sitting Chancellor Alexander Gary astounded Giblot by announcing that he would step down at the end of this month. He cited family as the reason for his departure as he wishes to spend more time with them in Ammersfield. Ever since the announcement, tributes to Alexander have been pouring in from all over Giblot. Even we folk at the Gazette will miss him for he has done so much for Giblot. Alexander has not only calmed our Democracy from extremism in his time as Chancellor, but has also done wonders in bringing Giblot safely from the brink in her wars with foreign powers. As a mark of respect, most Giblot Nobles did not announce their candidacy for Chancellor immeidately after the announcement but instead waited and in some cases, dediced to spend their time celebrating Alexander's achievements for a few days. Sadly, Frodo Reborn, began campaigning as soon as Alexander announced the time he would step down. Something most Nobles agreed was in bad taste. However, we know at least two other people are in the running for Chancellor this month. Both I, Revan Osha and Robert der Trihs have announced our intetions to run thus far and it looks like many more may even come forward to try and prove themselves as ruler. We shall be in for some interesting elections this month! |
Ceasefire | |
14.08.06 - In a shocking turn of events, a ceasefire was signed between Giblot and Lukon earlier today, the first bit of positive news in our long war of defence since we were forced to battle Alebad a few weeks back. Although no solid information is available to us, it is rumoured that Lukon have now gone to concentrate on aiding Oritolon against the theocracies of Alowca and Alebad. It is unclear what Giblot shall do now that Lukon apparently no longer threatens our lands, though Chancellor Alexander has suggested a festival be held in Giblot city to celebrate this good omen before he makes an attempt to negotiate with Chancellor Angus of Outer Tilog, brother to the deceased Moira whose death sparked Lukons entry into the conflict in the first place. |
Assassin Executed in Wetham!
08.08.06 - News has just reached the Gazette of an execution that took place 3 days ago now. The execution of Miles Manhood, the former Dictator of the Assassins Guild and Duke of the Dark Citadel. Although it is not entirely clear, it appears that Miles had bizarrely never been banned from Wetham during his lifetime, however his dishonourable acts in other realms across the Colonies were so severe that even his Nobility could not defend him from punishment. Thus when Wolfgang VonRavenHeart, the Arch Priest of Wetham found Miles in his clutches, he decided to make Miles pay with his life. Although most of our younger Nobles will not realise the significance of Miles death, the eldest amongst you will remember how, as the Dictator of Assasins, Miles danced diplomatic rings around the exiled Republican Premier, Thanatos Reaver over the issue of Helsera. Thus why Helsera was not safely returned into our possession until a real ruler under a Democratic government attained power in Giblot! Update: 14.08.06 - The death of Miles apparently caused a ripple of outrage through the Colonies rulers. We at the Gazette however, don't see what the trouble is. Miles was an Assassin and as such, is as worthless as the dirt and grime stuck to the bottom of your boots. |
Undead massacred, Enemies leave!
08.08.06 - In a strange turn of events this week, the army of Outer Tilog and Lukon - who dramatically pummeled their way through the fortifications of Rollsovar - turned and fled the region almost as soon as they'd entered it! Though only after they'd stolen a few coins and put fire to some farmlands first. Indeed, a takeover wasnt even attempted before the allied forces extricated themselves from Rollsovar. As the leadership of Giblot is either being tight lipped or indeed, have no clue themselves as to what has happened. I myself am going to exaggerate though, and tell you that it was all down to MGRHA! Yes thats right folks! They saw MGRHA doing what he was told for once and clearly, our enemies became disheartened. You just know Giblot is united and serious in it's opposition when MGRHA is doing the right thing. The old coot. In other news, due to the quick passing of the threat from Lukon and Outer Tilog we have finally been able to rid our lands of the Undead that have been purging them for around two weeks now. Causing havoc not seen since the days of Gander! Now only one set of Undead are left in Giblot. In the ruined woodland region of Helsera. MGRHA of course, has dutifully begun movement to the region without waiting for the blessing of the Giblot top brass, clearly eager to take part in even more Undead Bashing. The old coot... |
