Juazeiro is a large rural region on the northern coast of the East Continent. Oroya, the capital city of Old Rancagua, is on the northern border of Juazeiro. A ferry runs from here to Kazan, at the tip of the Omsk Peninsula.
History
In early January 2007, Lady Althea of Avamar Selective gained the rulership of this region. It was soon inducted into Avamar Selective's Duchy of Kazakh. It then became part of Old Rancagua. It switched hands between the Sultanate of Asena and Old Rancagua before falling to the Sultanate a few months before the fall of Old Rancagua.
Records between the demise of Old Rancagua and the region's current ownership by Nivemus are sparse, but the region has been in Niveman hands for the past few decades.
Government
Part of the Duchy of Rancagua, the region is managed by smallfolk proxies, with no regional lord or land-holding knights occupying land in the Nivemean heartland. Taxes from the region go directly to the duchy and the crown, .
Law and Order
A devout and hardworking people, Juazeiroans need little management, and are effective at self-policing. A strong sense of patriotism in the Old Rancaguan heartland precludes the need for a heavy militia or noble presence, what crime does occur is sorted out quietly by local guards.
Geography
With rich, loamy soil and large flat expanses, the northern coastal region sees most of its land used for grazing and raising livestock due to harsh weather conditions with driving rain and sleet occassionally blown in by Easterlies from the Western Ocean. The southern coast is notable for the tall clay cliffs that rise around inlets and beaches along the Kasalta Bay. Situated behind a small peninsula, Port Kasalta is known as a hub for trade between Juazeiro and Kazan on the Omsk Peninsula.
