Far, far away in a land our heroes would never see, sitting at a stone alter in his own private fortress, was a man none had seen before, but all unfortunately knew. He was not unhandsome, save that his eyes seemed two pits black of hatred marring his other features. Staring into the fading image in his scrrying pool the man’s fist slammed into the table before he turned and stormed away from the alter, knocking down his chair.

Pointing to the fallen chair he rights it, though with far more effort then one would expect. Grimacing he continues his rant, “It will be months before I can rebuild the bloodforge, and then I’ll need another avatar; those primitive savages have set my plans back considerably. At this rate it’ll be another year before I get my daemon army.” Pondering for a moment he grins, “Wait; all the daemons required was that I give them a land of pain, suffering, fear, and death to feed their hunger; the world of Battlemaster hardly needs my assistance any longer to accomplish that. I can send the daemons the portal coordinates and then I’ll have my throne back from Antonio in a month.” Walking to the scrying table again he tried to open a link to the daemon plane, but luckily, failed, “So, the loss of the forge is worse then I thought, how irritating.”

Walking back to the center of his throne room he gestured towards a tankard on the nearby table causing it to float to him. On the way it seems to bump into thin air, spilling its contents. “What is this?” asked the man.

Not having long to ponder a flash of light attracts all attention and indicates the arrival of another person, tall of stature and noble of bearing.

“So I’ve finally found you Philippe!”

“Antonio! How did you find me…… Wait, that’s why the girl wasn’t in the fight, she was setting a trace.”

“My sister fought valiantly and without her I would not be able to bring you to justice this day. She makes me proud.”

“You think you can defeat me alone? Why that’s rather arrogant of you your majesty….” replies Philippe with mock sincerity.

“Though I don’t doubt my courage, and by honour I would prefer to fight you myself, there are bigger things at stake and I will put aside my desires to see to justice.”

With that the 14th Stealth Knights of the Southern Kingdom appeared surrounding the pair, one of which was trying to clean up the drink that had been spilled all over him.

Philippe frantically looked around at the encircling Knights while Antonio continued, “One way or another you are coming to justice Philippe.

“I will never surrender to the likes of you weakened or not!” cried the Black Knight as he raised his hands.

“So be it monster! Knights; forward!”

Roleplay from Eilonwy
Eilonwy walks back to her Judge's quarters after the battle with Philippe. It was done. Ended. As was everything she knew. Wiping grime from her face, she nodded to the remaining guards at the entrance to the building where she and the other government officials had their quarters, not daring to say a word for fear of the anguish she would hear in her voice. She would wait until she got to her bedroom, just a few more steps. . . .

"Khamil, bring me paper and a pen, I have a letter to write." she managed to squeak out to her manservent, managing to keep her voice somewhat in line, even if it went up and down a little more than she would have liked.

"Yes, m'lady. Is m'lady alright? Should I request Camia prepare a bath for you?"

"I'm fine, Khamil, but yes, ask her to get me a bath. Letter first."

After a moment, she sat down at her desk with paper and pen in front of her, and began to write.

My friends, with the loss of Philip, and his transformation to Philippe, which I now am forced to admit is reality, and not some dark twisted dream, I am somewhat at a loss. The man who showed me the Virtues is shown to be an evil most foul, and I am no longer sure of myself. Effective at once, I resign as Judge, for I believe I no longer have the conviction nor the clarity to see and do Justice.

Dame Eilonwy Evans
Grand Justicar of Avamar
Dame of Justice

She looked at the letter. "Khamil, I need this sent out to the whole realm as soon as . . . as soon as you can. Imp . . . important, business."

She slumped, losing what little energy she had left after the fight. When Khamil pulled the paper out from under her sleeping head, it was stained with tears.

Roleplay from Tasadar
"What is going on?" and "What happened to Phillipe I thought I could fight him? I am more confused then ever". Seeing an opportunity he stealthily slid into a corner near the back of the room. "Hopefully I can hide here until I can straighten things out."

But what happened next is another story.

And so Philippe was exposed and slain by the brave people of Avamar, saving both themselves and a people they’d never met from dark dreams, and evil intentions. Thus the hidden reign of Philippe d’Montnab; Black Knight; and Betrayer; came to an end in this year, three of the Age of Strife, long may he remain in the abyss.

THE END
