Now we return our attention to our own war in the north. The stalemate continues as Norland though master of battle in the open fields remains unable to mount sufficient cs to break through the Ithilian fortifications in Mansbridge and Minas Ithil suffering from the same problem when it comes to pushing past the ancient line of trenches extending through out Norland. How either side will break the stalemate can only be guessed at we can be sure that the marshals of Norland are tackling the challenge with the famed viking fervor that has brought Norland its greatest victories. | Now we return our attention to our own war in the north. Today Norland rang in the new year in the traditional fashion with lots of chutney and yeti wrestling (Note: No yetis were harmed in the making of this celebration). The festivities were made even better when Falasan's King Reilwin returned Amdor to Eston, returning their borders at their pre-war status. Norland would like to congratulate her federated partner on regaining the superb region and wish them luck in rebuilding it.

Today marks the first battle of the war in the new year. This morning The armies of Norland assaulted the fortress at Mansbridge, breaking the silence that has hung upon the battlefields for the last two weeks. Minas Ithil rushed reinforcements to their garrison stationed in Mansbridge making the battle one of 12,595 CS of charging Norland berserkers against over 16,000 CS of sun worshipers. Normally this would have meant a massacre of the attacking forces but during the short period without fighting the army of Norland rebuilt her army to consist of more than 80% infantry and stockpiled a fleet of siege engines over 23 in number. This hoarde of viking infantry, though still outnumbered, was able to swarm over the walls of Mansbridge. The siege engine teams set to work setting fire to the fortifications knocking holes in the motte while the rest of cut into the ranks of the Ithilians, buying the teams enough time to do significant damage to the outer walls before being driven back. Though the Ithilians will claim this as a victory this attack accomplished its goal by drawing out the main strength of the Ithilian army and doing heavy damage to the fortifications and infrastructure of Mansbridge as well as wounding the Marshal of the Shanandoa Praetorians and Minas Ithil's High Marshal. Norland's soldiers fall back to their palisades in Hernepoole with smiles on their faces for this is sure to be a bloody winter after all.

Today the army of Norland inflicted two sound defeats on the legions of Minas Ithil. These Norland victories stopped the latest Ithilian offensive right in it's tracks. Although Norland recently suffered its own defeat against the Ithilain army camped in Mansbridge the tables were soon turned as the pursuing Ithilians seeking to capitalize on their victory floundered against the palisades of Shiverwood and Hernepoole in the face of determined viking resistance.
