Adela grew tired of her brothers telling her what she can and can not do, so she left to Beluaterra where she hoped she could live life her own way. She arrived at Irondale, where she received the land of Hirzmet. She applied for the role of Marshal and lead expeditions to keep their surroundings clear. On one of those expeditions she reveived the Ducal Veil of the Volcano, which she would proudly wear to signify her ambition.

When Sodik Adiyanto was elected as Minister of the Interior of Irondale, Firbalt was suffering a famine due to corrupt officials. Minister Sodik managed to end the corruption with strict policies, which made him a powerful enemy: the influential officer Jahat. Jahat managed to oust Sodik out of office by appealing an obscure law: Sodik was not within the realm boundaries at the time of his election. Since this meant Sodik illegally held a governmental position, Jahat even charged him for treason, forcing Sodik to relinquish his lordship over Tor pending the trial.

Merewyn Kazan advised Prime Minister Remus Prestongreen to use his legal right to pardon Sodik. However, Jahat pointed out that the relinquishment of the lordship over Tor was not a punishment, but procedure due to the investigation and therefore has to be maintained. He also forced Merewyn to resign the barony of Kif due to having fulfilled the function of legal defender without proper certification.

During this turbulent time, Adela stepped up. Due to her young age she had little history which might be used against her, so it was believed she could break the power of Jahat at court. She received the lordship of Tor and was elected as Minister of Defense and Minister of the Interior. Then suddenly Sodik disappeared. Jahat accused Adela of being behind the disappearance, since it allowed her to get rid of a rival claimant. However, Adela accused Jahat of being behind it because of his beef with Sodik. Since Jahat was generally hated, he received the blame and was hung for treason.

Adela made political alliances to secure her position. One such alliance was Atticus Varrix, a local noble from Kif, whom she had met while she was Lady of Hirzmet. He would serve as her Vice-Marshal and even succeeded her as Minister of the Interior. She closely cooperated with Imperator Arjan de Zueww, strengthening the alliance with the Shattered Vales and performing several joint military expeditions. As a Daishi she advocated the retrieval of the Vial of Divine Floodwaters and was eventually elevated to Fulcrum by High Shugenja Yao Ling Pryde.
