| War grows hot in winter

After Norland's attack several days ago on Mansbridge, Minas Ithil launched an attack on Shiverwood. Overpowering the local defenders our troops went to work seizing tax gold bound for their capital and damaging the local fortifications. We then returned to Mansbridge, however some were caught by advancing Norlander forces with High Marshall Raoul wounded in the fighting.
This evening Norland attacked Mansbridge once again. With about 200 more infantry than the attacking forces Norland's attack was doomed from the start. Some troops slipped out of the gates before they closed, disrupting Norlands battle lines and delaying their ability to set up their siege engines. With their lines in disarray, Norland's forces were cut down quickly. Only one Norland unit reached the top of the walls, only to be quickly cut down and driven back by the defenders.
Norland suffered casualties of 643 and Minas Ithil had casualties of 276. Baron Birdy of Hernepoole was killed during the battle.
