Not much is known about the parents of Peter I of Dyzig besides that he himself was a grandson of Chief.

However, many believe the legend to be of a more ancient time and that Dyzig was already well established by the time of Chief.
Others actually believe a son of Chief married the only daughter of Dyzig's chieftain and thus became the father of Peter. This might explain the prominence of Peter, who would have a stronger claim through a father than a mother. However, there are several stories about daughters, but there are none about sons of Chief - which may mean he actually had no sons.
