Winwich reclaimed as Abington gains Tarkhog

Rumours have been confirmed in the north as Ithilien forces capitalise upon their most recent victories in the region of Winwich, retaking the region and establishing local government in the area after a takeover which ran for several days. The Chronicle wishes our northern allies luck in their contest, whilst the Ashlantean armies continue to wage war upon the brutal and dishonourable Estonite barbarians.

In other news, the incidental region of Tarkhog on the Abington/Carelian border was overrun by a relatively small Abingtonite force and taken over earlier this morning resulting a slight change to the political borders. However, without control of the RedSpaniard city of Stargard, and with the Abingtonite mobile forces shattered in the wake of the disastrous battles which raged for control of the city, the prognosis is bleak for RedSpan's on-going survival. Stargard remains adjacent to the lands of its enemies and time will only tell if they can capitalise upon this early success and deliver the crushing blow required to end the dominion of the Goat-lovers in the southern lands. - Arkantos

Abingtonite army massacred in Stargard!

The fate of the Redspaniard capital seems to have been sealed with the recent massacre of the Abingtonite army in pitched battle outside its walls. Abington, now regarded as RedSpans' only hope in staving off total destruction, limps back to their lands in the long trek east whilst Stargard remains under the control of the invading power to the west.

Indeed, as night fell on the walls of the city of Stargard, 27th of June, the mighty Abingtonite army along with the remnants of the defeated Redspaniard forces was utterly thrown back from the makeshift fortifications of the occupying armies of the Cagilan Empire, Talerium and Tara. Casualties were high on both sides, though the weight of defeat lay heavily upon the beleaguered attackers as they conceded the loss of their High Marshal Damian to imprisonment within the dungeons of Cagil.

However, the battle was not done and a further test of the defenders' mettle was conducted to no avail the following morning, this time however the ultimate price was paid by the high nobility of Abington with the death of the Duke of Stoneville in the heat of the battle. On-going attempts to reclaim the city appear to be a forlorn hope at this stage, with the recent acquisitions of Meldeen and Atblane by Tara and Carelia respectively. Both regions, which border Stargard will afford the invaders a chance to take the city from RedSpaniard grasp and deal a heavy blow to RedSpan's prospects of survival.... - Arkantos

Victory in Winwich

Another war, somewhat overshadowed by the far larger conflicts raging to the south and westwards, continues to become far more bloody as the on-going contest sinks further into stalemate. The region of Winwich, once a green and populated forest lies empty in the fires of war, its people either slain or fled from the land. In recent battles however, the region has been the site of the victories of another Eastern Alliance partner as the rejuvenated Ithilian armies stormed the forests and drove back the Norlanders from their entrenchments along the river. We can only hope this is a sign of good things to come for our northern friends as they seek to reclaim the lands taken by early Norland progress into their holdings.- Arkantos

Belegmon reclaimed!

The stalemate continues in the north as the quasi-conquered lands of Falasan continue to resist the brutal subjugation and ensuing hegemonic oppression on their would-be Estonite rulers. Belegmon has been the focal point of the conflict for the past few months as they continue to return to the leadership of the Falasani nobility through steadfast and continued efforts to hold the line against an enemy which has proven itself incapable of achieving lasting victory. We can only hope that in the times to come when the Ashlantean army can finally return to the front that Magnus will grant his faithful victory against a heretical and ignoble enemy.- Arkantos

Falasani victory in the North

Again our valiant allies to the north have continued to show their zeal and rugged toughness by successfully repelling the Darkan mercenaries who, it seems, were on their way to perform another devastating looting run of important Falasani frontier regions. Nazgorn, the site of a brutal pillage and burn only a week or two ago, was again the focal point of another pitched battle as the Darkan army was defeated in the craggy foothills by the resolute defenders.

This defeat, coupled with the heavy damage inflicted by the Ashlantean armies to the defenses and forces of Eston in Anost as well as the recent reversion of Belegmon back from Estonite hegemony, spells good news for the embattled Falasani Nobility who have finally been given a much needed breather. Stalemate has ensued in this battle it seems, and we can only hope that the vile Estonite dogs realise their folly and bring an end to this conflict before the cost of their greed becomes too great. - Arkantos

Enter Abington

The greatest question surrounding this sudden southern conflict has been answered with reports of large Abingtonian forces amassing in the RedSpaniard city of Sullenport to the east of Stargard. Though the Chronicle has not heard of any official word from the newly elected King of Gauihu to the ruler's regarding the stance of his superpower realm in this war, actions speak louder than words.

Abington's expected intervention comes only just in time it seems, as the city of Stargard continues to exist under the overall occupation of the invaders whilst the rural region of Meldeen is subverted by the opportunistic Tarans who are yet to contribute battlewise to the fighting. However, will the massive army of Abington be enough to repel the defenders who are both numerous and now filled with the thrill of victory? A question we all have to ask, and one which will be answered in days to come...the Chronicle will keep you informed. - Arkantos

Stargard sacked!

With the recent diplomatic shuffle in the south, it was expected to see battles rage throughout the lands of RedSpan as they fought desperately to defend their holdings from their enemies. The war however, seems to be over almost as quickly as it started with their capital city of Stargard sacked earlier this morning.

The armies of Carelia, Tara, Talerium and the Cagilan Empire took two waves to sweep away all of the defenders and establish an occupational force in the city. Though RedSpaniard forces were able to use their walls to the best advantage in the original attack, the second wave was far too great, outnumbering them by a ratio of 2 to 1. Interestingly enough it is surprising to see that no Taran troops have participated in the battle so far, despite their obvious interest in the current situation from which they have much to gain. From here however it remains a mystery as to the future direction of the newly allied armies, for neither Carelia or Tara possess lands adjoining to Stargard.

Of note on the diplomatic front though, is the looming absence of Abington who has given no indication as to the level of support it will afford its last remaining federated partner. Indeed, rumours abound that Abington fears too greatly the threat of undead invasion and thus will not move her massive army elsewhere but for the defence of her own lands....for RedSpan's sake, King Tony had better hope this is not the case... - Arkantos

The end of RedSpan?

The southern realm of RedSpan, near universally disliked for their strange affinity to goats, has found itself in a rather tight spot following the sudden declarations of war by its neighbours, the Cagilan Empire, Tara, and Talerium. The noose was further tightened by the unexpected alliances forged between the Cagilans and the realms of Talerium (to the far west), and Carelia (a former ally of RedSpan).

It can therefore only be assumed that the realm of Talerium will also be joining the conflict and perhaps finally bringing to an end a realm which has been a thorn in the side of many, including its own allies it seems.

This strange turn of events, coupled with the wars already raging and the impending menace of a monster invasion far and wide, bodes ill for the realms of man on Atamara, and in light of th recent events it seems as though Lady Harlequin has ordered a short respite to re-assess the situation. The Ash Sea Isles it seems, will have to wait for the decision of the collective wisdom of the Witangemot before proceeding ahead in these dark times.... - Arkantos

Invasion....continued...

In the past few days Atamara has been rocked by a continued and ever growing presence of the undead and their monster counterparts as the realms of the continent provide a stout defense to the rise of these ravening beasts. Across the island a grand total of nine epic contests have been fought, not to mention the other smaller skirmishes, all of which resulted in victory for man and defeat for our common enemies.

Though the battles have raged far and wide, Norland was hit the hardest in this most recent speight of attacks having been assaulted in the fortified townsland of Mansbridge four times in the space of as many days with some 32000 CS of foul beings arriving in waves. However large incursions were also sighted in Tara, Talerium, Eston and Falasan to name a few.

The Ashlantean army on its return trip home after the battles in Belegmon and Anost had its own share of conflict, running headlong into a large group of monsters led by "Securing" in Corniel, and then again with "Running" and his Undead horde in the city of Aja. All of which were total victories for our armies despite the weakened state of the military at this time.

With these recent battles it is clear though that at this time humanity shall still stand as the sole rulers of Atamara, let us hope that this is all the foul beings who would seek to destroy us all have in store. Though....history has taught as otherwise and only a fool would assume that this epic event is over....or even yet begun.... - Arkantos

Slaughter at Belegmon

On June 13th, just as the Ashlantean army was preparing to head back home, it was mercilessly attacked and nearly wiped out by a large Darkan and Estonian force. The Ashlantean army is now heading back to the Islands not victoriously, but in defeat, with some units almost completely wiped out. On June 14th, Belegmon fell back to Estonian control after a few days of rightful rule by Falasan.

In the words of Keiichi of Worav, "Is it just me or is there a certain ... pattern ... we're seeing here? We sit up there for a few days, aid takeover, succeeds, we go home, as we go home Darka arrives with big kick arse army to undo what we accomplished. It's kinda frustrating ya know." That sums up all of our feelings as our army returns to the Islands... - Gustav

Undead invasion?!

New and frightening reports of large numbers of undead and monsters have come to light as the strange events of Beluaterra seem to have overflowed onto the distant islands of the East Continent and even here in Atamara. As the night fell new leaders of these foul beings appeared unexpectedly in the realms of Carelia and Abington, sparking a surge of undead and monsters in their wake. Reports have also come to the Chronicle's attention of further risings on the East Continent with battles taking place almost immediately, a grim herald of dark times to come it seems....

No large undead or monster sightings have occurred in the Ash Sea Islands so far, but that it seems, is only a matter of time..... - Arkantos

Defeat....

On June 10th and 11th, the Ashlantean army met defeat in the fortified townsland of Anost some 600 miles travel from the capital city of Serquea. Despite high spirits and inspired new leadership for this particular movement north, once more the Ashlantean armies were unable to penetrate the walls of Anost, which have been the only reason that Eston has survived without incursion into their own lands for so long.

The battles, which raged through the day and night saw the deaths of over 2000 men from both sides, and in the aftermath the continued ramblings of the ignoble High Marshal of Eston as he continued his propaganda campaign against Magna Serpaensism in vain. However, in defeat, much has still be gained and with the near total destruction of the walls of Anost in the conflict, Eston will be hard-pressed to repair those walls, replenish their armies and continue to pay the Darkans without serious strain upon their economy.

We at the Chronicle look forward to the next time the Ashlantean armies march forth, and through the might of Magnus we shall see victory once more. - Arkantos

Ashlantean army arrives in the north

In recent months, the war in the north has led to stalemate following the on-going tactical victories over the armies of the Isles and Falasan at the hands of Eston and its affiliates who have hitherto been unable to achieve resounding victory, or even truly maintain their gains. However, through careful planning and well co-ordinated travel arrangements, the Ashlantean armies have arrived on schedule and now prepare to take the fight back to Eston and relieve the heavy pressure that our Falasani allies have been under these past months.

With over twenty-five thousand CS in troop numbers, and the armies of Eston and Darka nowhere to be seen, perhaps this time when the Serpant banner flies over the battlefield it shall herald the turn of the tide. Duke Doc's Revenge, we tip our hats to you so far! - Arkantos

June 4, 2007

More foul beasts!

The Ash Sea Isles seem to be awash with small bands of roving monsters, as no sooner had the brave Ashlantean troops destroyed the threats in Jauchu and Inxi, more of these foul beasts appear in Barnlure, Mapo and most recently, Lerss. However, word has reached the Chronicle of further strange events in the far lands of Beluaterra as letters proclaim the arrival of a strange cult in the southlands. It seems as though the armies of darkness have once more replenished themselves and come again to challenge the right of man to rule the island. Tough times lie ahead it seems.... - Arkantos

Invasion! Monsters and Undead....

Though normally the appearance of the undead and the monsters is merely a token showing, this time however we now have evidence of a great lair that exists in the craggy foothills of Jauchu. These revelations as news has reached the Ashlantean nobility of a recent incursion into the lands on the northern borders of the capital of Ser'quea. As nearly one hundred undead and monsters ravage the countryside, scouts reporting their strength to be somewhere in the essence of 2250 CS. A truly disturbing sight, monsters and undead teaming together to wreak havoc as one.

However, action was quickly taken as the High Serpent Guard marches forth to dispatch these foul beasts with flame and steel. We wish them luck! - Arkantos

Duke Doc's Revenge takes the lead

In the light of recent developments in realm concerning the discussion of planning for the upcoming campaign against Eston, and the relative absence of our Lady Harlequin, Duke Doc's Revenge has taken the role of leading the upcoming campaign against the enemy. Little is known concerning his plans outside the Council of Marshals due to a want for the security of such military secrets. However in the upcoming weeks the Ashlantean Nobility can look forward to a time when perhaps we shall see a break in the stalemate which has ensued from this bloody conflict, should Doc's Revenge campaign be concluded successfully. - Arkantos

June 1, 2007

The Army regroups as Eston ravages the countryside

In recent days since the ending of the first tournament in several months, the Ashlantean armies have been returning to the Capital of Ser'quea in an attempt to rearm and refit quickly, with the intent of returning north and continuing to aid our valiant Falasani allies. Though the battles in the past weeks have gone ill in the most part, and despite the overwhelming numbers of the assailants massed against us, the combined armies of Falasan and the Isles have fought our Estonite enemies and their affliates to a standstill with only the region of Belegmon lost to the enemy. Though other regions have been temporarily occupied by Estonite forces, none have chosen to follow their oppressors who seem to delight in destruction rather than victory.

Thus it has been in light of this stalemate, that Estonite armies have now sunk to the level of the barbarous tactics of simply flooding the lands of Falasan with raiding parties, burning and looting the lands dry, then flooding them with the blood of the raped and murdered inhabitants. Furthermore, they have now desecrated the shrines and Temples to Magnus, causing personal affront to the largest religion on the continent with their blatant propaganda reflected in the most recent correspondence from the Estonite High Marshal Basil. The letter can be viewed here.

But, though this war turns uglier by the day, the valiant armies of Falasan and the Isles shall fight on, and in their righteous might shall win to absolute victory against the destroyers who come to take what does not belong to them. - Arkantos
