The red rose signifies passion and the sword is the will to enforce it.
The shield: The armour of their faith, impenetrable, with the white cross the symbol of their purity. The mailled fist: The symbol of enforcement, with the realm willing to defend itself and it's beliefs without question and with force if necessary.
