But the Blood Stars are not simple twinkling lights. They stand still where they are, older than rocks, immovable even by the rotating sky. You hear of an inriguing new stand in Askileon's main market. Someone has erected a bookstand, named "The Maddening Star", where he sells various books, booklets, star charts and other paraphernalia. It is the first time anyone has tried selling books to commoners; even though most cannot read he seems to have quite a success. Some of those seem to be of the highest quality, and would have their place on any noble's bookshelf.

For the first ceremony in Askileon, I gather people way after sundown on the western wall, where the view extend for miles. Only a dozen people heed the call, not much considering the people who stopped by during the day, but still a respectable number.

I start my sermon facing east, facing the city.

As tĥe sun and the moon, who were taken for gods by many of the primiive people of Dwilight, the Stars rise in the East and chart their course on the fixed sky, far from where we are, and unable to influence us except to help sailors chart their course.

Every dawn they rise, and every dusk they fall in he west, where the Blood Stars are.

But the Blood Stars are not simple twinkling lights. They stand still where they are, older than rocks, immovable even by the rotating sky. To them we fix our gaze, nd they are the one who brought us here, on this continent that until not even ten years ago no sailor had even seen, so fixated were they on their rotating Stars that they went round and round always at the same place.

To anchor one's faith on the Blood Stars gives one the only base solid enough to build strength upon.
