Venezia Family

Eternal and Ascending, our Manifest Destiny...These are the words that every Venezian child learns as they grow alongside the changing tides, a vow that we whisper as we embark on new frontiers.

Though the histories may show that our family line "began" with the Knighthood of Francesco Venezia in the city of Giask, in actuality it started on an island near the City of the Golden Farrow, our name blessed by the Gods of Sea and Sky themselves as a reward for the actions of our ancestor, Giacomo the Just.

Unlike many heroes of the day, Giacomo was a humble sort of man, only wanting the simple life of a fisherman. However, during one of his trips he came across an injured sea lion of the coast of the Farrow, caught in a tangle of seaweed. Cutting the poor creature loose, Giacomo nursed the sea lion back to health, returning it to the ocean once it regained it strength.

A short time after this, the Western Lands came under attack by the Demonic Invasions, hundreds of people falling by their hands. Slowing coming to the city Giacomo, realizing that the cause was lost, gathered his fellow seafarers and took as many people as they could, fleeing the city just as the Horde laid siege. But despite the rough journey, the Gods favored them with safe passage, the flotilla of five ships making it to the shore of an unknown island (the small island east of the Farrow). Upon disembarking, Giacomo came across the sea lion who he saved, the creature transforming into a beautiful goddess. For his deeds, she spoke, the Lady Venestas offered to form a covenant with his people, protecting the island with her powers as long as they stayed faithful to her dream. Giacomo, kneeling in worship, sacrificed a lamb to seal the covenant. Venestas, grateful, blessed Giacomo with the surname Venezia, and he in turned vowed to uphold her manifest destiny, that one day the Western Lands of Dwilight will be restored to humanity, finally united and ready to face the future...
