Basic Information

Name: Anneliese
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Height: somewhere between 5'6 and 5'8 (I imagine her as being tall, but I'm having a hard time putting an exact number on her height because I'm short myself.)
Close Relatives: Katelijn (Sister) Diederik (Brother) Jessie (Cousin)

Appearance

Her hair is long and brown, usually not braided or restrained in any way. Her eyes are brown with green flecks. She usually wears some form armor over her clothing, even if she doesn't expect battle. She is rarely without her sword, unless it has been wrested from her. If she carries any other weapon with her, it is probably a misericorde or a poniard.

Personality

Cruel. She's lost so many soldiers in battles that she sees them as little more than cannonfodder. Killing peasants and looting their corpses does not bother her at all. Since meeting Davendrall, she has lost much of her sanity and morals - though she never had very much of the latter to begin with; she just hid it better.

She does have certain standards, however. She will not kill nobles except in battle or in a duel and believes anything else to be dishonorable (read: weak). While she won't kill other nobles, she may certainly insult, torment or do other horrible things to them, with some exceptions. She has enough respect (or perhaps fear) for authority that she does not openly insult her superiors, unless she knows they won't mind - or they're Norlanders.

She is impulsive, easily angered at times, and finds it difficult to hide her emotions. She may sometimes plan things but rarely follows through with them; on her own, she accomplishes very little and does not have the confidence to work alone.

She has a fondness for trading insults, which is the only way she feels comfortable showing affection when not drunk. This is probably somewhat confusing, as she tends to insult people she hates, too.

History

(the abbreviated version - this is more for my own record than anything else)

  • 2009-12-01: Anneliese starts her military career in Tara.
  • 2009-12-04: To her disappointment, Anne is placed in the Homeland Defense, instead of the regular army.
  • Sometime in December of '09: First battle - at the Capital of Falsaan. Anne comes upon an important realization: she really likes to kill people.
  • Sometime in December of '09: Battle in Minas Ithil. Anne gets captured and discovers new and exciting species of cockroaches while in prison.
  • Unknown Date: Various battles, most of which blur together.
  • Unknown date: Darka reaches Taran soil, and Anneliese fights in another battle, losing most of her soldiers.
  • Unknown date: After losing so many of her soldiers in different battles, she begins to regard them as little more than cannon fodder and no longer mourns their passing.
  • Unknown date: Her liege, a duke of Stargard, refuses to appoint a lord for Byblack. She is one of two knights that come from that Duchy, and are also in the Homeland Defense, and thus has an obligation to police that region so it won't spiral out of control.
  • Unknown date: While policing Byblack and far away from battle, Anneliese discovers the wonders of alcohol.
  • Unknown date: A new duke is appointed, Byblack gets a lord and Anneliese no longer has to police that area. Unfortunately, her alcohol habit does not go away.
  • Unknown date: Various unimportant battles with monsters. Most of her time, however, it spent policing regions. After a while, Anne gives up on seeing a battle with anything intelligent, and resigns herself to a life of drinking and courtier-work.
  • Unknown date: Count Aurthur apparently has problems with pigeons, as they keep taking his knights. Anne offers her oath to him and the services of her hawk.
  • Unknown date: Long boring period in which nothing much happens.
  • Unknown date: Meets a Norlander named Davendrall, who steals her pants, calls her a rabbit, and introduces her to an interesting drink called leprechaun wine.
  • Unknown date: Anneliese becomes addicted to aforementioned wine.
  • 2010-05-20: Katelijn joins Anneliese in Tara. Anne and Davendrall subsequently do horrible things to Katelijn.
  • 2010-05-21: An angry Katelijn vows revenge.
  • 2010-05-23: Anneliese follows the Norlanders to Eston, in hopes of one day getting her pants back.
  • Unknown date: Anneliese is kidnapped by Davendrall and forced to become the head reporter for Muninn Newsrag.
  • Unknown date: Later, after Anne is saved by Athena, Davendrall gets away and Anneliese sets out to find her.
  • 2010-06-26: After two weeks, Anne gives up and calls for a truce.
  • 2010-06-27: Anneliese and Davendrall meet Sir Charion and do horrible things to him.
  • 2010-07-02: Davendrall makes Anneliese an Agony Aunt for an advice column. Without telling her.
  • 2010-07-02: Pie fight at the tournament in Minas Ithil. Meets some new nobles, three of which are scared off and the fourth one wants to duel Davendrall.
  • 2010-07-03: Katelijn anonymously sends a pumpkin, which explodes when placed in a bonfire.
  • Unknown date: Another tournament, this time without Davendrall. She attempts to trick tournament-goers by putting minnows into wine and distributing it at the tavern.
  • 2010-07-23: Anne and Dave meet Sir Charion again, who seems to have taken an interest in religion.
  • 2010-07-24: Meets Davendrall's new captain, Andre. Her first impression is better than she initially suspected it would be.
  • 2010-07-28: Andre expresses interest in Anneliese, but she is not interested.
  • 2010-07-28: Andre expresses interest in Anneliese. Lewdly. She states again that she is not interested in him, then nearly strangles him when he will not go away.
  • 2010-07-30: In an attempt to 'seduce' Anneliese, Andre ends up kissing a dead raccoon's behind and is knocked out by a conveniently placed fallen tree.
  • 2010-08-03: Anneliese and Davendrall do horrible things to Andre.

(I might be leaving out some events, either because I've forgotten them or because I don't know where they fit.)

NPCs

Catharina, the scribe

A short woman long blonde hair, usually wearing glasses or squinting when she is not.

She often acts as Anneliese's conscience and common sense, as she is sorely lacking in both. Unfortunately, Anne rarely listens to her. For this reason (and perhaps out of resentment for working for someone so inept), Cathy takes great pleasure in seeing her employer suffer.

To Anneliese's discomfort, she seems to know far too much about her, to the point that she can easily guess why Anneliese is doing something, even when Anne herself does not know why. She is, however, rather necessary for Anne's day-to-day life, because she can't write very well and usually does not bother to read something unless it's important. For the most part, Catharina stays with Anneliese out of concern for Jessie - it is long past the point where she should have left out of disgust.

Jessie, the squire

Smaller than Anneliese (about 5'4) but not as short as Catharina. Her hair is brown and cut so short that it does not even reach her shoulders. She is sometimes mistaken for a boy.

Compared to Anneliese, she is sane, though she finds some amusement in watching her supposed mentor's antics - at least when she's not being overly cruel. (Beyond this, I not certain about her personality yet as I don't roleplay her that much.)

Honey, the goshawk

...is a goshawk. She does nothing interesting, other than hunt small, tasty creatures. In Anneliese's hallucinations, Honey is always encouraging violence or reminding Anne of all her failures as a noble.

Kendall, the healer

An average-sized man with gray-and-black hair. He's been a healer for many different nobles and their troops, the last of which is Anneliese. Because of his status as a healer, he sees much of the cruelty Anneliese inflicts upon her soldiers.

Other

Adventures of one Drunk and her Rabbit
