"Yesterday, King Dekion in his first true diplomatic act as the ruler of Old Rancagua, declined at Chancellor Lalakis offer of a peace proposal. Whilst this was partly due to the oath that we swore to Prometheus, the true King of Kalmar and former well-loved Old Rancaguan when he fled the realm which was taken from him by El Cid's rebellion, it was also due to the fact that, with the Avamarian action to move their capital closer to the borders of Old Rancagua, it was clear that their offer for peace was not a whole hearted or sincere one.

Old Rancagua's ongoing pledge to end the Avamarian menance which has plagued the East Continent and uphold the oaths made to Prometheus concerning his Kingdom shall be fulfilled as a red dawn rises, the final battles which will see the first of a long peace in the northern regions of the Continent."

I think this article in itself is mistaken on points. I agree as a former royalist Kalmarian, that El Cid's rebellion was cruel, dishonest and lacking in any sort of virtue. That cannot be denied. The esteemed Sir Prometheus should not have lost his kingdom in that manner. However, democracy has brought prosperity not seen in the Kalmar islands for a long time. Smiths, academies, stronger walls, a fledgeling constitution, an assembly that makes all decisions realm-wide decisions all of these things have come from democracy. The entire system is fairer and far more effective, as the rift between the Senate and the Barons that existed under the Kalmarian Monarchy has dissipated. If you recall, cartbuilders in Alvaret and frankly pathetic archer units from Stora came about through poor communication during the monarchy.

Old Rancagua refuses Peace

(5-23-06)

Another point is the reason behind the Avamarians moving their the capital. The Kalmarians chose to move the capital in order to mount a better defense. We still wish for peace. In fact trying to make peace was voted on. 4) Should we attempt to seek peace with Old Rancagua? Yes - 15 No - 5 Abstain - 0 ---

The Kalmarian people want peace, but it doesnt hurt to plan a defense should diplomatic action fail.

Personally, I found Prometheus was a good king, but there were problems with his rule including the poor communication described earlier. I think democratic governmenmt would fix many issues that used to exist. I personally would like to see Chancellor Prometheus, instead of King Prometheus.

New Chancellor, Sir Lalakis Abadonas!

(5-23-06)

After the elections yesterday evening overwhelming support (over 50%) has been given to Sir Lalakis. Now given only two choices that is to be expected. Lalakis was chosen for his experience with government, innovation, great understanding of the democratic system, and well-laid out plan for success. On the negative side will be the foreign relations that will come by having the old Avamarian Prime Minister as the Kalmarian Chancellor. That would seem to indicate that this is "Avamar Jr." and not "new democratic Kalmar Islands".

Through Lalakis's innovation perhaps this can be overcome. There are a lot of ideas flowing around lately and likely under Lalakis they will soon be implemented.

Chancellor Gnaeus Resigns

(5-22-06)

Today our estimable Chancellor Gnaeus Unti has resigned. The reasoning behind this was his failure to be able to commit his full attention to the position. A new election is being held.

Currently the only two candidates are: Lalakis and El Cid

Billy Bob Brubacker is supported by some Kalmarians including me, but refuses the position.

Oligarch Falls

(5-21-06)

Well after long weeks of defeats and recent seiges Oligarch City is starving and being taken over by the Northern Allaince. After Oligarch City and Commonyr are taken, all the lands north of the Bescanon River save 4 regions belonging to neutral LoF shall belong to the Northern Allaince. Oligarch's military strength has been reduc4ed to nothing, and the Oligarchian government has, or is in the process of destroying all military recruitment centers, scouts guilds, houses of healing, everything to leave the city bare. In this manner the Oligarchians have decided they would rather see the buildings their gold funded destroyed then controlled by enemies.

In addition to this, in the final battle that destroyed Oligarch's military two nobles died. This coincided with another two dying with a seige of the Caligan capital of Domus. This is a lamentable time.

Not only that but wiht the loss of Oligarch, the Kalmarian ally turned enemy Old Rancagua will now divert its attention to us. While we are preparing a stronger defense we cannot be certain it will hold against a more powerful enemy like Old Rancagua. The coming months will surely be a difficult time for many a noble.
