Farrin Rothach is the youngest of the Rothach boys, a distant cousin by birth he was brought to the FEI by his uncle Scott after the untimely demise of his father at the hands of the Barony's enemies. He has always known of his true family history but speaks little of it.

He returned to the Barony after his exile by the family in Apelen following his assault upon his older Cousin Vallyn. In a heated moment Farrin attempted to strike down a peasant boy who challenged him for the love of a young commoner girl, an illicit affair the Family would rather forget. Vallyn seeing that his cousin was about to kill the boy attemped to prevent it, Farrin was stopped but in his anger at his Cousin managed to leave a large scar upon the man's face.

He only returned to Apelen several years later having participated in the Raids of the Barony several times, the poor leadership and lackluster preformance of the Raids made him grow tired and disillusioned with the stories of the Barony which he had been told. After recieving a letter from his cousin Phellan telling him of a chance to redeem himself with the family, Farrin eagerly accepted and returned to the Far East, intent on finding his love and to make his family suffer for what they had done.

He returned to find Nighthelm in ruins, the lands of Apelen pillaged and destroyed by bands of monsters and undead. His love had disappeared in the raids and even his Cousin Phellan who had kept her under safe guard knew not of what occured to her and her child -- the daughter of Farrin. Thus Farrin travels the Far East, fighting, trading, or plying information in exchange for anything he can learn of his lost love.

But always he remembers what his family did to him and how they exiled him, separating him from his own family.
