New Players Guide by Luke Evans

Introduction

Hiya my names Luke and I've been playing battlemaster now for well over a couple of years... So I guess you could call me one of the resident Battlemaster Addicts, Now I assume if your reading this then your either a new player looking for help, or someone else just checking because your bored or simply because you want to edit the page to update it. Either way, Welcome!. You'll find all sorts of tips, helpful information and guides to becoming a successful player on Battlemaster, but the best way you can possibly learn it all without getting a headache is to either browse through this guide, or a different one, and then discovering the rest for yourself.

Starting Out

So your sitting there at your pc desk wondering what to name your Character; Wondering which realm to join and what character class to play as and it may get a little confusing. Now firstly please remember children do play this game so choose a name that wont be considered offensive, and remember you cant change your character name once you've clicked the ok button so It'll stick with you until your character dies or is deleted so its most certainly essential that you choose one you like (also make sure you choose a good Family name as that cant be changed and will stick with you through out the many wonderful years that you play here).

Ok so you've picked your name fantastic, but now you've got to pick a character class (You automaticly start of as a soldier but you'll get to choose other classes fairly soon after you have started playing Battlemaster)... Now a character class can be determined to decide what kind of person you are, I mean if your an axe wielding maniac warrior then you'll most certainly want to be a soldier so that you can slay some people in battle and so forth. Now the soldier class is probably the best starting out class to choose, all you have to do as a soldier (you'll actually be referred to as a knight or troop leader) is recruit some troops and follow your generals orders, Now the best thing to do is buy a small unit of infranty, archers or mixed infantry, Now when you get your troops make sure you dont spend all of your money as you will need to pay them gold every so often otherwise they will abandon you and that can have some negetive effects like loss of honour, prestiege etc but we'll get to that later. Now I know many of you arnt bloodthirsty barbarian types waiting for the next battle but thats also fine as there are several other class you can pick when first starting out such as the Trader Class or the Beurocrat class; Now I know what your thinking... both of these classes sound absolutely boring.... and I bet your thinking theres no action or worth involved... well your WRONG! yep you did hear me right, And you wanna know why? Because I have experienced both classes and their simply exciting and awesome, As a Beurocrat you get to keep the realms regions in shape so that they dont leave the realm in which you belong too or start having civil wars, and Trust me when I say this, you dont want a region to leave your realm... especially if your the region commander or lord. Now aswell as that you can help organise repairs on the region if production is low. Its a simple class to pick up for sure, I mean There are only a few things you need to remember to do as a Beurocrat such as Survey Administration which raises the morale and loyalty of a region and the rest you'll get to grips with by experimenting( Please remember as a Beurocrat you cant enter tournaments). Now The trader class.. This Class can be quite challenging but quite fun aswell and its quite an important class as you're responsiblity will be making sure the realm has enough food so the people dont starve... Aswell as making a quick bit of cash on the side. Now as a trader You'll need to buy some caravans so that you have somewhere to store your food. I also reccomend in buying a scout so that you can keep tabs on neighbouring regions activities.. and a healer... yep you heard me correctly I said a healer, Now as a Trader you wont be fighting many battles but now and again you could end up in a tight spot, especially if your buying food from enemy realms black market... Which I advice you dont do by the way as you could end up in prison for several days or you could be attacked by enemy soldiers. Anyway these are just the simple basics just so you know what your getting yourself into. Now You've chosen your character name, You've chosen your class and your all set to begin your new life in a brand new realm... But the question is, what realm do you join? I mean there are sooooo many to choose from right? Well I'd personally suggest somewhere on The East Continent, simply because its where started all those years ago; Now the East Continent is usually jam packed with actions as Realms constantly fight mainly to expand, And also everybody I have met on the East continent has been really friendly especially towards the newer players, I've actually made a few friends there who I still speak to now even though I'm not in their realms anymore. Now if a realm on the East Continent doesnt suite you and your more of a roleplayer then why not join the Far East Continent, Its one of the newer continents although it has been around for over year now but you have less of the power play type of gaming and more of the roleplaying kind of stuff; Now this I personally do enjoy because you get to develop your characters persona with other fun people and you can get to grips with some of the other game play there.(Please Remember that the Far East Island is a roleplay island therefore you are required to roleplay)

Roleplaying

Wow so you're still reading this? Awesome, I guess you either like what your hearing/reading or your really bored, either way its all good hehe. Now this is where the Art of roleplaying is explained if your already experienced in this field or feel that you are feel free to skip ahead to the next section. Now you've picked your realm and your a new troop leader, now the best way to make friends or to make yourself known or hell just to begin the development of your character is to introduce yourself to the realm... Now this may seem hard but give it a go it'll pay off, Now heres something you can use to give you a rough idea on how to roleplay, this is only one style of roleplay and there are many others out there this is just one of the easier forms that I prefer to use:-

John Doe awoke from his deep slumber... he looked around his eyes glazed over and not quite sure where he is, Suddenly a blurred figure moves closer towards him and began to speak:-

Person: As so your awake John, You've been out cold for over two days now, the healers were starting to think you wouldnt make it

John Doe: My name is John? Who are you? Where Am I?

Person: Oh I almost forgot about the blow to the head you suffered... Dont Worry your memory will return in a couple of days... the healers warned me about this; I'm your mother dear and your in Realm Name Here Oh I do hope your memory returns soon son; You have your introduction with the general tommorow, You're finally going to join the army and fight the in the great war..

John Doe: Ok...

Mother: You must be still weak; Why dont you rest a while and I'll go fetch you something to eat

Then from this point you could either carry on the roleplay or wait a while and do another roleplay where your memory returns and you meet the king, queen, general or whom ever. Either way its a pretty simply way of doing things especially if your totally new to the game.

Honour/Prestige

Ok now your thinking I wonder what this is used for? Well it can actually be used for alot of things but first... How to gain Honour and what its used for. For honour at first I'd suggest becoming a Soldier as the more battles you enter the more honour you'll gain ( You can also gain Prestiege in Battle) Now your honour level can determine many things such as how many troops you can recruit or even open up new classes such as the infiltrator or hero class. Now onto Prestiege, this is slightly harder to gain but you can gain it through battle and other methods which I'll let you discover yourself as it'll make the game more fun. Now prestiege plays a great part on becomming a major title holder of the realm, With enough Prestiege you can be elected as the Ruler of the realm, but at the moment theres no real point in talking about that as you wont be holding such positions for quite a while in a realm. (Also if you wish to gain respectable titles you need to earn them and gain other players trust)

Buying Paraphernalia and Troops

Now Paraphernalia is quire important; Who ever you are you'll most likely need some sort of paraphernalia; If your a soldier or enter many battles you'll most certainly need to buy a healer or two so that if you end up getting wounded in battle they can heal your wounds and so forth. Traders will need to buy Caravans and possibly a scout; Now Some things you may buy from the paraphernalia option may require an upkeep fee but that'll be shown/expained in the option. To get to the Buy Paraphernalia option you have to go to the orders link then you'll see it there on the page. Now buying Troops... This is a whole new kettle of fish but yet again you have to go to the orders link but this time click Recruit a unit now as a new player you wont have to worry about all the classes, Just three of them. Now as you click Recruit a unit you'll notice that under the type section you'll see things like inf Inf stands for Infantry and this is one of the basic units and a unit i reccomend you too choose when first starting out. Infantry fight in close combat so be prepared to fight the enemy head on if you choose this class of unit. Another type of unit you'll see is Arch This stands for Archers and they fight the battle from afar wiping out mass units with their arrows; A good unit to get but if the enemy gets too close you could end up doomed. The next time of unit you'll probably want is MI Now this stands for mixed Infantry, this means you'll get both Archers and Infantry, although fairly weak they make a fairly good unit as you get the best of both worlds. REMEMBER when buying a unit dont spend all your gold as you'll need to pay for their upkeep

Dueling

Ok so your minding your own business and someone has slanted your honour and disrespected you, now one of the main ways to resolve this is by dueling the person that has done so now there are three types of dueling you can participate in and they are, Duel to Surrendor, Duel till first blood and Duel till death. Duel till surrendor is where you and your opponent duels until one of you gives up, Duel till first blood is where you and your opponent duel until one of you has been cut open by the other. And duel till death is well... a duel to the death, the winner is the one left alive. Now I'd be careful with using the duel option within the game as some realms dislike you dueling and may consider it to be illegal and there is a slight chance that you could end up wounded from the duel meaning you will not be able to use your character for a few days. Also Duel to the death should only be chosen as a last resort to something as it means your character will be deleted if you lose.

Anyway Folks I hope this has helped some of you out in someway; I'll be adding more to this page when I next get some spare time or a day off work; If your a new player seeking help remember to browse Wiki check out some other guides, check out the FAQ on the battlemaster website or simply asked some of the more experienced members of the realm in which your in (aka the realms council, mentors or other oldies) I hope you guys have as much fun playing here as I have and perhaps I'll see you around. oh and by the way if you end up seeing any of my characters in the same realm as you are and your still needing help feel free to message me, my current characters are Gunfire Aka Lord Gunfire, Misty, Aka Lady Misty and Krillin Aka Sir Krilln. Anyway This is Luke Evans, over and out.
