Description

Grehk is built on a tongue of land next to a natural harbor on the inland sea - from here trading boats can easily reach the isles, Enweilios or Fwuvoghor to the north. The heavier deepwater ships find secure anchorage as well. The landward side of Grehk has always been heavily fortified - as it was to be the center of bloody wars in every Age. These fortifications have been built and torn down several times by now - as there are few cities who have been laid siege to as often and by as many realms as this fortress city: Eno Chia, Luz de Bia, Enweil, Voghor and several undead armies during the first age when owned and defended by Riombara; Again the undead during the end of the Second Age; and Riombara, Fronen, Thalmarkin, Fwuvoghor when owned by Luz de Bia during the Third Age. By now the foundations have been dug deep and whoever controls the city is always keen to erect its mighty walls once again. Each time the work begins anew, bones and worse is dug up, telling of the fate of previous defenders and those they fought against. Some names of the main bastions have survived the Ages: The Snake Tower, The Sun Tower, The Twin Towers guarding the Highway west.

As the city has been under siege so often, has seen countless assaults and great battles, even the interior by now may be considered a fortress: Each house sports thick walls with only a few openings...and those serve as arrowslits far better than as windows.
