An Najaf Fall Festival!

Evening of a Thousand Torches

After the competition, elected representatives of each community took a torch lit from the Praise Fire and used it to light the pyre in their centre. The fires represent the happiness of the people, and the Evening of a Thousand Torches is said to make the land of An Najaf tranquil with ease until the next season change.

The fires also create enough light for the festival to continue during the night.

Wine Parade

With the fires lighting the night, the festival then proceeds to the Wine Parade. Much of the wine exchanged during the Collection of Material is opened and drank. It is a jovial time of dancing and revelry. For many An Najafi, this is the last event of the day as they either pass out from the drink or exhaustion. It is always the most anticipated event of the festivals, mainly because of the mass drinking.

An Najaf Fall Festival!

Closing Ceremony

Usually this event is under attended, as most end the night after the wine parade, but some feel it is an important tradition and attend with reverence. The crowd is often the elders of the land, and those who maintain and uphold the traditions with vigour.

The crowd gathers once again on the Plains of Aealys and this time proceeds north to the border where the Astrum Woods begins. It is a long walk, but as it is the custom, it must be done. When they reach the woods, the Praise of Fire is doused and the closing ceremony is finished.

Armstrong was one of those who did not make it past the Wine Parade. He had his fill of the tasty drink and was no longer able to speak coherently or walk in a straight line.

This festival was surely a grand affair.
