The Brenna is a tributary of the Gelene river in northern Sabadell. The farms around where ruled by Gerhard the Lion, who was one of the trustees of Chief during the Everguardian Period. When chief signed an agreement with Everguard, the agreement was sealed with weddings – one of them being Gerhard’s only child, his daughter Irmgard, to a wealthy family in Gelene. After Gerhard’s death, his estate was inherited by his daughter. Since she lived in Gelene, she needed a supervisor and appointed her cousin, Reynold the Fox, as bailiff. He earned his nickname as a cunning defender of the border region – especially when operating behind enemy lines if the keep on hill Sabadell was besieged.

Reynold was succeeded by his son, Meginhard the Falcon, who earned his nickname as a scout to the Astrumese army. When Meginhard grew old and Westgard gained control of Sabadell, he decided to step down in favor of his son, Reynold the Boar. Reynold fought in many battles in the service of the house of D Luffy, but died in the year 52 at the Battle in Farrowfield. Reynoldhad had three sons with his first wife: Meginhard, Wikhman and Egbert. He also had a daughter, named after her mother: Adela. When his wife died giving birth to Egbert, Reynold remarried to Liutgard, a sister of his chiefest advisor Gerulf. He begat another son with her, named Everhard.

Meginhard Brennaborg at age 24

Meginhard

Due to his father's good reputation, Meginhard was appointed his successor, despite a young age of only 14. His stepmother served as his regent and kept taking charge of his estates when Meginhard went on expeditions with his lord.

When Marcus D Luffy was instructed to secure northern Sabadell, he tasked Meginhard with building a keep at the junction of the Brenna and the Gelene: the Brennaborg. As a reward for building the keep and his diligent service, Meginhard received the keep and the entire north of Sabadell, thus becoming the first lord of Brennaborg.

Meginhard, like most Sabadellians, is not particularly known for his prowess in battle, but being close to the border, he gained a good reputation for reconnaissance and was noticed for this by the Lord Commander Sparticus II Bathgate, who appointed him vice-marshal.

Having completed his assignment of securing northern Sabadell, senator Marcus D Luffy decided to retire and left the management of the region to Meginhard, who continued the militarization by increasing taxes and reorganizing estates to ensure an as large a fighting force as possible.

As the Westgardian borders moved west, Meginhard went with them and was granted Forguthrie. Many faithfull servants followed him and were granted lands among the locals. In honor of the fallen hero, Meginhard started building a keep, which he named the Raphinborg. As the locals did not want the keep to draw attention to the city of Forguther, he build it at a proper distance south of the city.
