Current realm: Greater Xavax

Jarvin Bedegar.jpg

Jarvin hails from the Abasnian Archipelago far to the south of the East Continent in the cool waters just above the Southern Arctic Sea. The family ruled over a meager collection of stony islands with poor soil and even poorer people. They lived well enough off the fur trade, but there was little room for a third son such as Jarvin. He set sail from his home with 21 men and landed in the East Continent in the realm of Greater Xavax. He immediately pledged his loyalty to Selenia JeVondair, First Xerarch of the Imperium. His original estate, Carelian Arms, was more productive than the entire realm he had left behind. However this good fortune turned sour shortly after his arrival, when the city of Xavax was attacked by the combined forces of Alara and Minas Nova. The Phoenix Queen was slain in the ensuing chaos.

A cloud of despair hung over the entire realm as the nobles of the land learned of the tragic end to an epic hero. Hopelessness in the face of war with two nations and without a leader took hold and many lamented the end of Xavax in its entirety. But alas the gods smiled on our Lady Phoenix that day and through their divine powers Resurrected her. The ecstasy that spread at the news can not be put into words as lords rallied and the commons sang the praises to the gods on high. But Jarvin was filled with uncertainty.

Jarvin had never been a particularly religious child while growing up. Few proper churches exist in the Abasnian Archipelago and most of the people practice a mixture of Animism and Ancestor Worship to some extent or another. So the irrefutable evidence of the omnipotence of some benevolent deity shook the foundation of his world view. With no framework to ground such an event he is slowly being taken in by the idea that the Risen Phoenix is actual a favored champion of some god, or a paragon of their desires on this world. He struggles with this uncertainty as he meets the enemy in battle and speaks to his men about the coming days of the war. He feels a magnetic pull toward the Xerarch and an irresistible urge to exact revenge upon those who have dared attack her and her peoples.

In the subjugation of Leibo Jarvin took morbid satisfaction in the brutality meted out to those who would blaspheme the Pheonix Queen and di not leave such punishments solely to his men. However he is not a monster. He felt pain for those innocents who had not chosen to turn away from the just rule of the Xerarch and pitied the young who had no hand in the rebellious acts of their elders. It is an unfortunate fact of war that the propaganda of our enemies is so effective at warping the minds of the baseborn, and that such influence must be met with the sword and the brand and the whip. It is his hope that after moving estates, to the even more wealthy Craftsman Row in Isadril, that he will be able to use his funds to rebuild that which was razed by the bandits and further destroyed by the ill conceived riots that followed.

But above all else divinely ordained retribution is his foremost concern.
