Rituals

Common Rituals

Emberic Rituals

  • The most common ritual is the use of various ash compounds to alter the colors of the flames. This is typically only done in a temple, but wealthy nobles may buy small supplies of the ashes required to use in their own private shrines.
  • Lighting five candles in a ring before saying prayers.
  • Thanking a fire source for its light, warmth, and protection before putting it out
  • Offering food cooked over a flame to Galtea before eating it

Oceaninc Rituals

  • Casting salt over the earth to give Dalai power where she would not
  • Offering food to Dalai when salting it
  • Saying a prayer over a well to thank Dalai for her waters

Temple Rituals

Baptism of Ash and Sea

Tools:

  • A pitcher of Sea Water
  • A pair of bowls
  • An urn of ashes
  • Ash candles
  • Something to light the candles with

Around the bowls, the candles are set in a circle. Tip some ashes from the urn into one bowl, and into the other pour sea water. Taking a striker, light the candles. The priest performing the baptism should close their eyes and stretch a hand out over the candles and the bowls.

"By the hearth that keeps us warm, and the sea that feeds us, I ask that the Gods around us bless these ashes, the symbol of Galtea's Emberic Court, and this sea water, the symbol of Dalai's Oceanic Court, so that we may bring others into your fold once again. Do not chastise them for their past mistakes, but instead, break their shackles so that they may become their truest selves under your guidance as the free creatures you intended."

If a new believer wishes to take up the cloth, let them speak their own words. Documented here are the words of Kenneth MacArbin, the second priest, inducted by the Avatar of the Red Flame, Cayden Navaar.

"I offer my speech, that I may help others find their truth. I offer my wealth, that I may bring safe harbour to those lost in storm. And I offer my self, flawed and imperfect though it is, that others may see from my example that they too can find their home. By the Emberic, the Oceanic, and the Horizon Between."

Exploring One's Flame

There are two methods to this. One can simply throw sacred ash on a flame, or in a more intimate setting, this method is preferred.

Tools:

  • Wooden incense burner
  • Incense sticks
  • A jar of scented burning oils
  • A jar of ashes
  • Something to light the incense with

Let the prospective believer light the flame themselves and see what they see.

Blessing of Perfection

Draw a circle of oil and ash around a person. Light it in a swirl of colorful flames that will quickly die out.

The person giving the blessing will say: "By the light of the flames, be your true self. Be perfection."

Prayers

Seekers of the Flame

We were chosen by Galtea's hand Sent on a mission to make a holy land

We saw her beauty all our days We were soldiers under her gaze

We kept the faith before our fame We knelt at the Altar of Flame

We sought her Ash in Pelnora Vents And found mystic symbols in tunnels of ancients

Humbled by her passion, raw Blackened skies were all we saw

Protecting us day and night Find your warmth, Galtea's light.
