Shale was always the black sheep he didn’t focus on learning tactics or studying how the battlefield works, finances, or even legal. He was an underachiever and didn’t mind. While serving in Caergoth when he changed out from being bureaucrat he was heavily insulted by being told that he was "as weak as the shale that he was named after". Shortly after he retired.
