Serpentis Family/Erik Eyolf/Peace (Or the Mother off all Lies)
The Stormwalkers marched to Parm. Captain Karl led the troops until the gates and later he abandoned the soldiers, giving to them a time for rest. A retinue of bureaucrats, employees and scribes accompanied Judge Erik. Emissaries. Agitated days with all the peace discussions.
Captain Karl: "Should I alert the soldiers about the peace?"
Erik Eyolf: "Say that the best Captain of Sirion won't march? That we won't make justice to our old allies? That the Stormwalkers won't make to echo the thunders? We are the vanguard of Sirion. There are no peace and rest for us."
The cortege was received at a merchant's house. Erik liked to take a temporarily possession of a beautiful square where he could work in peace. He brought the scribes and blacksmiths. They occupied the place and began the works. A table and a chair, a lot of paper an quills. In spite of the two soldiers protecting the gates, a crowd of children invaded the place, marching and singing as in an alive theater. A bard guided them and Nesrah, the old sorcerer observed with crow wings in her hair.
Holding hands
Skipping like a stone
On our way
To see what we have done
The first to speak
is the first to lie
The children cross
Their hearts & hope to die
Bite your tongue
Swear to keep your mouth shut
Ask yourself
Will I burn in Hell?
Then write it down
& cast it in the well
There they are
The mob it cries for blood
To twist the tale
Into fore wood
Fan the flames
With a little lie
Then turn your cheek
Until the fire dies
The skin it peels
Like the truth, away
What it was
I will never say...
Make up something
Make up something good...
Holding hands
Skipping like a stone
Burn the witch
Burn to ash & bone
The sorcerer approached of the Judge of Sirion. Erik lifted of the chair, observing the children now impressed with the warrior's portliness. They were human children. Probably children of Old Rancagua. They didn't resemble the children of Sirion. They were just miserable commoners. But the Law of Sirion shone for everyone.
Erik Eyolf: "What game is that? Do you want that I burn or hang somebody? Who?"
A more thrilled boy with two wood swords and an armor of sewn straw assumed the leadership of the group and answered:
Boy: "The dogs of Sultanate! And a woman of Fontan that burns temples and orders that the soldiers rape our women!"
Erik Eyolf: "Our women??? Who are you, boy?"
Boy: "I'am the Judge os Sirion, Sir Eri... errr... nobody, M'Lord!"
The eyes of Erik shone and the true Judge favored the children with a good laughter.
Erik Eyolf: "The peace words arrived... an you are nobody, unh!? What's your name and age, boy?"
Boy: "My name is Henrich, M'Lord... and I suffered with the hunger for seven winters."
Erik Eyolf: "The peace won't arrive for us, young Henrich. Talk with my captain. If you have strong arms I will take you with me. You will be trained by the best Captain of Sirion and perhaps one day you receive the black mantle of the Stormwalkers."
The youths wanted to struggle and the old ones looked for peace. But no peace would be given to cowardly enemies. Torturing, murderers and rapists. Thieves of temples. All deserved to pay with the life. And Erik would never forget about the promises that he did in Old Rancagua. Never.
