Start my Career – December 4, 2004 (RP note)

From the rough mountainlands of Scio a quiet noble family lived their lives peacefully. Sixteen years before a child was born named Dobromir Menethil along with him his best friend Cuthert Von Ulthuan. A quiet young man he was he marched out with his personal guard. He was poor with little gold on hand but headed Queen Gwynyth’s call for willing knights for aid. And so begins my story, my re-collection. War horns sounded to the east where vast army of Fontan was slowly but surely nearing the city gates of Domus. To the south lurked the Yssarians, ever poised to strike swiftly.

The young knight had yet alot to learn but even now he could realise that they were in a grim position. He marched on towards the capital and purchased a few more additional soldiers with the few gold pieces he had left Fontan’s army grew nearer and nearer.

Caligus had recently lost Sordidus, Akesh Temple and Aureus and was about to lose Aestus also.

Suddenly a scout came in announcing an a vast army from the north was marching straight towards the capital. Soon banners could be seen carrying the rampant lion of Perdan, marching swiftly to aid Caligus.

The young knight smiled knowing the time to sit idly behind walls was over and together with Perdan they marched on the invading Fontanese army. The battles were endless all very bloody. Dobromir quickly learned in the vicious fighting in the frontlines parrying many attacks and luckily coming out of them virtually untouched except for the one or two minor scratches. Slowly but steadily Fontan was pushed further and further back. Caligus was able to reclaim Aestus and Aureus and then the united forces of Caligus and Perdan assaulted Akesh Temple, Fontans westernmost stronghold. The battle was immense but the sheer amounts of siege engines was far too much for Fontan to hold Akesh Temple was breached by overwhelming forces and soon after taken over. Soridus an undefendable land soon fell also. The takeover was soon followed by peace being signed where Fontan handed over Tokat to Caligus. Perdan received Bescanon from Caligus for their aid in the war.

Ubent continued to fight with Yssaria into a stalemate neither realm pushing the other. However, one thing was seen. Ubent’s military might was no longer to be feared. They had grown proud and quite lazy having other realms fight their wars for them.

Caligus then began to enter a time of relative peace. They were in a neutral status with Yssaria and started to rebuild their home after the war. Times seemed to be up for the nation with things going well the southern alliance being very effective and overcoming most of its enemies.

Southern Alliance members at the time had expanded to – Perdan, Caligus, Ubent, Oligarch and Ibladesh.

The End of Coimbra

Perdan once again marched north where Oligarch was fighting Sirion and Coimbra forces. Fontan took up arms also and defended their ally Coimbra. It is ironic that Perdan yet again was still fighting Fontanese forces in the north.

The forces of Perdan and Oligarch with some aid also from Avamar slowly but surely pushed Coimbra, Sirion and Fontanese forces back. Krimml was breached on numerous occasions. Fontanese and Sirionite forces were able to repel the attacks on two occasions but on the third attempt Krimml was well and truly breached. Oligarch soon took it over expanding to four cities.

Coimbra now had one region left of Viseu. They simply decided to join Fontan with it. Thus it was the end of Coimbra. Many of them joining Fontan.

Fontan then signed a peace treaty withdrawing from all wars completely while Perdan and Oligarch’s forces turned towards Sirion.

The Great Betrayal

The south was relatively more peaceful. But quiet too quiet some would say. There was the brief skirmishes involved Ubent against Yssaria and also Itorunt against Ibladesh. However, none of the realms seemed intent on doing much except for minor skirmishes. One day however, it would all change.

War horns sounded Ubent was rushing south to face a small invading force from Yssaria in Igno and Tota. Then disaster struck when forces from Itorunt and Ibladesh together converged on them once they reached Liebo.

Ibladesh had forsaken the southern alliance and allied with Itorunt and Yssaria

Ubents entire army was captured. Many nobles were captured numerous other were wounded. Soldiers were simply slaughtered were they stood and those that retreated were persued.

Forces from Ibladesh and Itorunt rushed north. Itorunt took over Xavax. Yssaira took Igno and Tota. Ibladesh captured Mines of Isadril, Ar Mosul and Ar Raqqah within a week Ubent was simply a shadow of its former size.

Caligus immediately rushed to aid declaring war on Yssaria capturing Supra and sending forces to stop the push towards Ubents capital.

Perdan withdrew its forces from the north also and declared war on Ibladesh immediately. Relations with Itorunt lowered to neutral.

It was too late however, the damage was done. Ubent pride was destroyed and with that they lingered in the war defended fiercly by their allies. Futhermore Ubent decided to surrender and withdraw from the war in fear of its survival.

Perdan was left to fight Ibladesh and Yssaria.

Caligus and Yssaria entered their own war an extreme bloodbath in which the battles were by far the most frequent.

The events down south also triggered the north to act. Fontan who not long ago was spared by Perdan and Oligarch now saw the opportunity and jumped right back in the conflict attacking Oligarch with Sirion. Oligarch had two friends. Rancangua and Avamar both one city very small realm, Rancangua mainly being involved in their civil war against Old Rancangua and Avamar lingering on in Avamar city pestering Sirion and Fontan when they could.

The southern alliance was shattered and the new alliance Perdan, Caligus and Oligarch became known as the central alliance. Rancangua and Avamar joined up with Oligarch.

The southern alliance was now Yssaria Itorunt and Ibladesh.

The northern alliance consisted of Fontan, Sirion and Old Rancangua.

Eleador remained neutral.

This marked the beginning of the great war. Sides were set and pitched against each other.
