Cynthia Ferum
These pages feature the life of Cynthia Ferum, past member of the house of Ferum, now nothing but an outcast. You read through the pages, and notice that most of them (after her banishment) were entries by Balt Ferum. You start to recap her story:
Being the second-born into a typical patriarchic family, childhood was not easy for the aspiring Cynthia Ferum. From the early days on she has always envied the freedom of choice her brothers were to recieve. Even though there was some bad blood between her older brother, Ragrim, she had always gone along well with Balt, her younger brother, who has also chosen a path disregarding his father's wish. Unlike her brother, however, Cynthia was not forgiven, and with the course of time she was forced to leave her home, abandon the title of nobility, and loose everyone she had ever known. She was no longer welcome amongst her on, and great despair filled her every thought.
Her previous choices have not left her unprepared, though, and she managed to live off the land quite well until she found shelter within a cummune of adventurers. It was not far to the north, near the Barrow Peaks, where Cynthia has found a new home, and learned the ways of the truly free. Survival, hunting, trapping, and swordsmanship are amongst other the things she had learned in return for offering a helping hand around the encampment.
A few years have passed, and Cynthia has finally reached adulthood. More capable than ever, she decided that there was a score to settle with her family. Once again bidding farewell to what she would call family, but this time on good terms, she makes her way back to Ordenstaat, and to her former family's estate. After all this time she still could not get over the pain it has caused her to be cast away.
For many days and nights she would wander, with a steady pace and determination she eventually closed in on the estate. A last night of rest was all that stood between her and demanding answers from her kin. The next morning did not quite go according to her plan, however. Being part of the 'lower rabble', Cynthia was not even permitted to the grounds, let alone the family estate, without permission. In her fury she almost crossed blades with the estate guards, which outnumbered her by far. But reason got through to her just in time, and she left once again.
It was a few hundred feet away when she was asked to stop by a familiar voice. Apparently her brother, Balt, has heard about the escalation, and insisted to investigate on his own. Even though Cynthia was not permitted on the estate grounds, Balt was more than eager to hear about all of her tales. As the two walked along the road, they exchanged their stories. Cynthia about how she was raised the way she wanted, and Balt about his plans to leave the continent and become a trader in a far away mission for Ordenstaat. Not all news was good, and Balt could no longer keep this a secret. Apparently, in the past year her father, Toth Ferum, has passed away in his sleep. So even if Cynthia was permitted to the estate, it would have done her no good.
Cynthia could not help but feel somewhat disappointed. Behind all the facade, she also felt somewhat sorry for loosing her father on such bad terms. News of his death was not even remotely close to the feeling she had expected. Still, whatever bonds held her on the western continent were lifted, and Balt's idea of sailing far, far away appealed to Cynthia.
What happened after the two bid farewell to eachother is yet unknown...
