Gamble

Repairs had finally been completed, and now the hero's men were good as new to face battle once more. Xarnelf knew it was a rather big gamble to hope that his messengers reached everyone in Pates in time for them to move on Taop, but he had tired of waiting. The enemy was weak and demoralized; a swift strike would topple them and perhaps even encourage the people of Taop to openly revolt again, upon seeing the arrival of liberating forces.

The archers on the walls were his only concern, for the infantry would melt like butter before the might of Aenilia's forces. He prayed for a mighty storm that night, to cloak their movement and foil the enemy's range.

(Roleplay from Armando Moraden)

Armando smiled grimly as he read through the recent correspondence from Xarnelf. Thunder from Talex, a unit already distinguished in service despite it's odd name (for an aenillian unit) and recent change to cavalry, would be there for the battle. And if the plan of that brilliant fool of a man worked, They would be doing the infantry a service with a daring parade in front of the walls before retreating and mending the wounds they would no doubt suffer. The reserved but courageous noble, put down the latest letter and went out to rally his men. Some would die, surely, but much glory would be bestowed on those that survived. They were going for Taop.

(Roleplay from Tharion de Ravenal)

Entering the room Liam paused for a few moments and silently watched his King who was in the process of trying to adjust the pauldrons of his plated armour without much success. The young man rolled his eyes and then stepped forward to assist his Lord, as was his typical duty.

"There is every likelihood that you will march into this fight outnumbered, your Majesty."

He reached down and tightened a strap where the chest plate, in its current loose state, would rub the skin from Tharion's sides.

"True."

"It doesn't seem a wise plan."

"They rarely are Liam."

"But you're going anyway?"

"Make sure that you pack those bottles I brought. I would hate to celebrate without a good drink."

Liam sighed audibly while his King looked thoughtfully at the inordinate number of weapons spread out upon his bed.

(In Pates after the defeat at Taop...)
(Roleplay from Caim Haerthorne)

Caim sighed and put his face in his hands.
