Source for images?

Hi, I noticed you've uploaded some very nice looking images (ex.: Image:Bp007.jpg). I'd like to credit the artist, and also make sure that we're not infringing on any copyrights. What is the source of the images? Cheers -- Corwyn 06:23, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Let's at least put the attribution -- I'll go ahead and do so. As for copyrights, it's generally not allowed on wikis -- we're not exempt. I'm not an editor though, so I can only offer guidance, but I can confirm it's against this wiki's copyright policy which uses the Creative Common license (and hence can't use copyrighted content). I'm not surprised to hear that other people have already uploaded copyrighted images though. At some point it seems we, as contributors, will need to go through and remove those which are not legal. Otherwise we're at risk of having the entire site getting pulled down. -- Corwyn 15:38, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I no longer have the software program I used at the time (Adobe Illustrator), nor the historical images that I used for the pegasus. But if you can find some historical images of fantastical mythological creatures, then I'd be willing to help you with any layout and tweaking (using Adobe Photoshop). A good place to get copyright-free images would be Wikimedia Commons - Project Heraldry. Here's a direct link to some of the images. All of the images there are okay to reuse.

Also, other than family crests, any artwork you find on Wikimedia Commons is also usable here. -- Corwyn 16:01, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
