The land of the Maapan people is frought with decay and death. Some say it's the miles and miles of sand that cause the death but in reality is the boredom that leads many to take their own life. Not many visit and those that do, usually leave as quickly as possible.

The Maapan inland area is home to nomadic camel herders that travel the land to make a meager living by selling their camels and handmade crafts in the markets of Ptaphoc and Mapaxal. Some adventurous people have attempted to increase the amount of business in the small port town of Maapania by specializing in small boats they can take to sea to fish.
