And Justice for All
The Duel in Slimbar

Erik always liked Slimbar, the city in the middle of the great forest. The high and white towers and the gentile population. Before he was just the Count of Dolmbar, but now he attracted glances through where he passed. The benevolent and fair Judge of Sirion. The youth warrior was walking through the streets of the city spreading his words about justice when the scribe approached of him.

Scribe: "M'lord, that challenge letter for a duel arrived for you."

Erik Eyolf: "I imagine who is the challenger. That will be very interesting. I always liked to use words against words, but if the challenger wants to learn some lessons with the sword, even better."

Erik began to walk in the direction of the academy. He never visited one before of that duel because he always believed that the battlefield was better to learn. He found an experienced tutor and soon they were workout. The two passed some hours in a strong training, making the noise of the swords to echo in the great hall.

Tutor: "It was a great honor train with the new Judge of Sirion. The battlefield, struggling against enemies and monsters taught you to use the sword with great talent. I've got nothing to teach you right now."

The youth Judge was a little disappointed. In his first visit in the academy he intended to learn some new tricks. He left the academy back and visit a tavern to drink some wine and to eat bread to recover the energy before the duel. He also asked for his scribe find an appropriate and reserved place for the duel. In the end of the afternoon he asked for the scribe to guide Sir Cotto until a rich merchant's house that offered the courtyard of his house for the duel.

After the presentations the duelists were ready for the combat. Erik thought that the challenger would choose an offensive posture, after all he was the offended. But the combat showed that Sir Cotto preferred a defensive posture. Erik was young, perhaps too arrogant to defend, then he was aggressive. His sword showed a disciplined fury. After some blows the challenger surrendered. The Judge was benevolent in not causing any wound.

Erik Eyolf: "I hope that finishes our problems, Sir Cotto. Farewell."

Erik thanked the merchant and awaited that Sir Cotto left. The owner of the house had beautiful daughters that were impressed with the youth Judge's talents. The night promised to be quite pleasant.
