"The sleeping Beauty"
Good day! Before we start the political analysis that will follow, please spare some of your valuable time to have a look at the map of East Continent, which is really worth it. Now, bring in your mind the official diplomatic relations between the realms of this Continent and focus mainly on the alliances that are shaped. What do you see? If you have not found it yet, then allow me to point out to you some interesting facts.
Let us begin with the North and then speak for the South. Not that there is any particular reason for the priority given to the North in my article, but since I must start from somewhere, I have decided to begin from those realms who have eliminated most of their enemies and grabbed their lands. In the North, we see an Alliance between Old Rancagua, Sirion and Fontan. For the sake of easier reference to the specific alliance, in my article I have decided to name the alliance as the Northern Alliance.
Now, lower your eyes to the map and focus to the South. There, we can clearly see a powerful Federation being formed, consisted of the glorious realms of Itorunt, Ibladesh and Yssaria. For the sake of easier reference in the article, I will refer to them as the Southern Alliance of the analysis. Does this remind you of anything?
The Nothern Alliance has already conquered the northern half of the Continent and keeps expanding, while the Southern Alliance still struggles to dominate in the southern half with their only obstacle being the once mighty Kingdom of Perdan. The two Alliances of the Superpowers, as I like to refer to them, have decided to split East Continent in two parts and each side claim their shares by grabbing the land, while leaving everyone else in ignorance and full of questions. A reasonable question from all these would be: where is the Middle in all these?
It is fact that the Middle is at great disarray at the moment and that the realms belonging to this fraction are acting individually without any coherent plan on matters where common policy is advised. The Northern and the Southern Alliances are taking advantage of the middle realms' idleness and lack of organization and they are exploiting the opportunity that is given to them as a result of the mentioned situation. As long as that the situation remains as it is, there is no way of the sleeping beauty awakening and thus no fears of unification and cooperation of the middle realms (Middle Alliance). Both of the existing Alliances are well aware of the fact that if a third Alliance would be formed, then they would have a very difficult time to fulfill their dreams, since the crippled realms that they are currently directly or indirectly fighting against, would be transformed to a very considerable enemy that might balance things around and bring the upside down.
Ubent, Caligus, Light of Fountain, Perdan, Kalmar Islands and Avamar Selective are all of them either crippled or too weak realms to constitute any real threat to the Superpowers' dream and as long as they are divided, this will never happen. Unfortunately, all of these realms lack something important that would make the change and that is the leadership that is required for proper communication and good cooperation between them, in order to make this possibility come true and confront what they currently fear of. For example, the once mighty Perdan by not being able to properly figure out what is going on and how have they, a once very powerful and feared realm, been transformed into a weak realm that does not deserve any respect and is being threatened by every part of the Kingdom, have proved to frequently take hasty and very bad decisions on crucial matters by not knowing which of the Alliances threatening their borders should they join, in order to better secure their People for the future.
The recent political actions of the Alliances and the War in the Islands, fortunately indicate that at least there is not any signed treaty between the Superpowers of East Continent regarding the split of the land, but rather it is a silent and very convincing agreement for both of them that the have mutually reached on, after distinctive and very cautious words exchanged between them on the diplomatic table. Of course, as it was expected since the Alliances move their borders closer and closer to each other, as time passes, more tension and inquietudes are being spotted in both parties of this behind the scenes agreements. The question that is raised and that I doubt if any of them have an answer to give, is what will happen after each one of them has taken their share of East Continent land. Are we going to experience a new larger scale War between the two Alliances or are we finally going to be witnesses of a state of Continental Peace?
The answer will depend on each alliance's share. If they are equal, then we may be lucky to live in Peace for years to come, but if it happens one of them to have conquered more than the other, you will agree with me that we shall experience a War that will never be forgotten and that will mark the Continental History books forever. The more powerful side will find an excuse, as always happens like that, and will strike the other one down for good. For the moment, the Northern Alliance seems to gain more and more power in this conflict of Influence against the Southern Alliance and they keep trying to expand in the Islands and gain Perdan with their side, something that would bring the borders of the North lower to the map of East Continent.
The North and the South keep fighting a War of Influence in East Continent.
My question is:
When will the sleeping Beauty finally awake from her stupor?
I will leave the conclusion of this tale to you, our readers.
